AOC Goes To Bat For Ilhan Omar As Voters Go To The Polls In Huge Dem Primary

Tuesday is primary day in Minnesota's Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District and the fate of Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar is hanging in the balance.
The controversial Omar is facing an unexpectedly strong challenge from attorney and political newcomer Antone Melton-Meaux who is offering voters a choice between the divisive anti-Semitism preached the the "Squad" member and constructive dialogue to arrive at solutions.
Now Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is coming to the rescue of her fellow radical by mobilizing her immense social media clout and fundraising prowess to sway voters to support the Somali-born Omar who she defends as “damn effective.”
An Omar loss would be a severe setback to the radical socialist disciples of Bernie Sanders and AOC understands the importance of hornswoggling Minneapolis voters to turn out in sufficient numbers to beat back her challenger.
In a live-streamed “day of action” Sunday, Ocasio-Cortez admitted it was unusual to have such a well-funded primary in a heavily blue district such as Omar’s.
She said funders “usually like to get a bang for their buck” and typically contribute to races that have a chance of tipping a seat from one party to the other.
“So when we’re the ones that are attracting multimillion-dollar primary challengers in an unprecedented way, that just tells you how effective Ilhan is,” she said.
“That tells you how damn effective she is against big real estate, against our military-industrial complex, against our Wall Street complex, against basically every corrupt institution that we have right now in this country.
“And they’re coming for each and every one of us.”
“And it’s not a coincidence that these primary challengers who have cropped up are funded by Wall Street and dark money. So it’s really one of those big, like, ‘choose your fighter’ moments. Like, are you going to – do you really think that a Wall Street-backed, you know, lobbyist operation is really going to be what’s best for us, or are we going to back grassroots, people-backed candidates?” she continued.
AOC also resorted to a technique that she has total mastery of - the big lie - to claim without a shred of evidence that Melton-Meaux is being funded by Republican Super PAC's and big GOP donors.
Via The Hill:
The race has gotten nasty and personal in the final stretch. Omar ran an attack ad against Melton-Meaux, a lawyer and mediator, alleging the legal firm he once worked for was “one of the worst union-busting law firms in the country.” The ad accuses Melton-Meaux of defending corporations “accused of mistreating workers and firing pregnant employees."
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has been sending out mailers alleging that Melton-Meaux is “being propped up by Republican super PACs and GOP megadonors who are threatened by our Squad’s collective power.”
Omar’s allies have pointed to reports that some of Melton-Meaux’s money has come from out-of-state Republicans eager to see her chased from office.
Whether the Squad leader's intervention will save Omar from a well-funded challenger who has been endorsed by the Minneapolis Star-Tribune at a time when her district is in smoking ruins from rioting remains to be seen.
