Barack and Michelle Obama Responds to Daunte Wright Police Shooting in Race Baiting Statement

WASHINGTON - JUNE 29: US President Barack Obama with the first lady Michelle Obama next to him gives speech from the East Room of the White House June 29, 2009 in Washington, DC

On Tuesday, former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama spoke out about the accidental police shooting that took the life of 20 year old man Daunte Wright. The former First Couple took no time in blaming the shooting on racism against the black community.

“Our hearts are heavy over yet another shooting of a Black man, Daunte Wright, at the hands of police,” the Obamas said in a statement, adding that the shooting was proof of “just how badly we need to reimagine policing and public safety in this country.”

On Sunday, Wright was shot after an encounter with the Brooklyn Center police after he resisted arrest. Wright attempted to jump back into his car as he struggled with the police and was then shot by an officer.

“Michelle and I grieve alongside the Wright family for their loss,” Obama said in the statement. “We empathize with the pain that Black mothers, fathers, and children are feeling after yet another senseless tragedy.”

“[W]e will continue to work with all fair-minded Americans to confront historical inequities and bring about nationwide changes that are so long overdue,” they added.

Barack Obama also linked the shooting to the ongoing trial involving the death of George Floyd, calling it “heart-wrenching.”

Democrats and the media are attempting to paint a picture that the Wright shooting in Minnesota was not an accident and was due to racism. The recently released body-cam footage however paints a much different picture.

While attempting to arrest Wright as he tried fleeing the scene, the female officer shouted “taser, taser” after Wright jumped in the driver’s seat of the car.

The officer was holding a hand-gun instead of the taser.

“Oh sh–t,” the officer said as Wright drove off. “I just shot him!”

Check out what the New York Post reported:

The black man who died during a traffic stop in Minnesota was fatally shot by an officer who mistook her gun for a Taser, officials said Monday, as they played body camera footage from the incident for the first time.

Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon said Daunte Wright died as a result of “an accidental discharge” by the officer, adding that the cop has been placed on administrative leave.

Bodycam footage of the incident played during a press conference showed Wright stepping out of his car, then leaping back in and driving off.

“Oh sh–t,” the officer is heard saying on the video. “I just shot him!”

Gannon said he was unaware whether a weapon was found in Wright’s car.

“It appeared to me in the video that the individual was trying to get back into his car to leave,” Gannon said.

The police briefing came as city business owners were still cleaning up after a new round of looting and clashes between protestors and police over Wright’s shooting in the fractured Minnesota community.
