Biden Says Trump Should Have Moved Sooner on China Ban Despite Calling It Pointless in February

During an interview on Sunday with ABC News, former Vice President and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden hammered President Donald Trump, saying that he should have stopped travel from China sooner than he did. Biden cited that 45 nations at the time on January 31st had already blocked “China personnel from being able to come to the United States.”
“I would tell him what we went through a similar crisis, you have to move swiftly," Biden said while reacting to President Trump's response to the virus outbreak. "We have to move more rapidly. You have to implement the Defense Production Act, empower a supply commander, create, you know, a Defense Production Act for banks for small business loans, you got to faster than slower, and we started off awfully slow.”
He added, “He indicated that I complimented him on dealing with China. Well, you know, 45 nations had already moved to keep — to block China personnel from being able to come to the United States before the president moved. It’s about pace. It’s about —it’s about the urgency, and I don’t think there’s been enough of it.”
This comment by Biden is extremely ironic and hypocritical considering Biden slammed President Trump after he banned travel from China as well as European countries back in March.
"A wall will not stop the coronavirus. Banning all travel from Europe — or any other part of the world — will not stop it. This disease could impact every nation and any person on the planet — and we need a plan to combat it," Biden tweeted on March 12th.
Biden accusing President Trump of not acting soon enough is extremely ironic considering the President was one of the first to act against the virus, while Democrats like Biden were focused on calling him racist.
"We are in the midst of a crisis with the coronavirus. We need to lead the way with science — not Donald Trump’s record of hysteria, xenophobia, and fear-mongering. He is the worst possible person to lead our country through a global health emergency," he said after the President banned travel from China.
It wasn't until two months after President Trump banned travel from China that Biden finally supported the President's decision.
Last Friday, Biden's deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield told CNN that Biden now "supports" President Trump's January 31 decision to ban travel from China due to the Coronavirus. This is after more than TWO MONTHS of Biden calling Trump "racist" for doing so!
"Joe Biden supports travel bans that are guided by medical experts, advocated by public health officials, and backed by a full strategy," Bedingfeld said. "Science supported this ban, therefore he did too."
Did he? No, it appears not according to his previous tweets. If Biden were president during the coronavirus crisis, it would have taken over two months for him to enact a travel ban which would have infected and killed many more Americans.
