Black Lives Matter? 45 Shot, 11 Killed in Another Weekend of Murder in Chicago

We keep hearing how “Black Lives Matter” from black activists, politicians, and entertainment types – along with no shortage of white apologists and social justice warriors – while at the same time hearing nothing but crickets from those same people when it comes to the black-on-black carnage happening daily in Chicago.
Yes, yes, those of us who are white and happen to believe that ‘All Lives Matter’ are told how we just need to shut up, sit down, and prepare to have ‘uncomfortable dialogue’ about the “systemic injustices” against black people.
Just as soon as black leaders agree to have an ‘uncomfortable conversation’ about how, through their silence and misdirection, they are sanctioning inner-city genocide of their own people.
We can (and should) start with Chicago, where the number of young black men killed by other young black men in a single weekend dwarfs the number of young black men killed by white – and black – police officers in a year’s time.
What did this past weekend look like?
Well, The Epoch Times fills in the blanks:
At least 45 people were shot, including 11 fatally, between Friday evening until Sunday morning in Chicago, according to police.
At least three minors were among those who were killed in Chicago…
Among the youngest victims:
-- A one-year-old and his mother were injured in the Englewood neighborhood on Saturday afternoon when someone pulled up and just started shooting into the mother's vehicle.
-- A 10-year-old girl was struck in the head by a by a stray bullet in the Logan Square neighborhood on Saturday at around 9:40 p.m. local time; she later died at a hospital.
-- A 17-year-old male was shot and killed at around 11:25 a.m. on Saturday in North Monticello after he got into an altercation while with a group and was shot in the chest.
Another report noted that a 20-month-old boy was shot and killed on Saturday as he sat in his car seat.
“The Chicago Tribune’s tracker noted that as of June 22, about 1,500 people have been shot across Chicago so far in 2020, which is about 350 more shootings than in 2019. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, citing the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, so far, about 309 people have been murdered in 2020,” The Epoch Times reported.
These figures are just from this past weekend. The full Sunday tally hasn’t ‘come in’ yet because this report is being published Sunday afternoon. But if past is prologue, we expect the death toll to rise.
“It seems like just yesterday, it was actually last Saturday, I was in front of you all talking about a 3-year-old that was killed in the Austin community, and now here in Englewood, a 20-month-old was killed,” Chicago Police Chief of Operations Fred Waller said, according to CBS 2 Chicago.
“This is happening far too often,” he said. “Too many times children are killed by senseless violence, and not only just children but grownups also. When is this going to stop? When are we going to say enough is enough?”
Great question. But Waller should ask the liberal black BLM activists who don’t want to have an ‘uncomfortable conversation’ about it.
