It’s not like California is in danger of turning red anytime soon (wouldn’t that be nice?) but there is a real possibility it’s current lunatic governor could be unemployed sooner rather than later.
An effort to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has been underway for some time but in recent weeks it has really picked up steam thanks in no small part to the arrogance of the governor himself.
The Daily Wire explains:
On Thursday, a California state legislator reported that the recall petition targeting Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom, who has implemented strict lockdowns across the state since the coronavirus pandemic began, was getting close to success, which would prompt a recall election within four to six months.
California State Assembly GOP member Kevin Kiley, who represents the 6th district, which includes areas around Sacramento, California’s capital, tweeted, “And just like that, we’re at 1.4 million signatures.”
There have been five previous attempts to recall Newsom but none of them have come as close as this one.
The current petition has “until March 17, 2021, to collect the 1,495,709 signatures needed to require a recall election,” Ballotpedia noted, adding, “Recall supporters say Newsom mishandled the state’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, did not do enough to address the state’s homelessness rate, and supported sanctuary city policies and water rationing.”
So, what gives? What’s the beef with Newsome this time?
The petition lays it out:
The grounds for this Recall are as follows: Governor Newsom has implemented laws which are detrimental to the citizens of this state and our way of life. Laws he endorsed favor foreign nationals in our country illegally, over that of our own citizens. People in this state suffer the highest taxes in the nation, the highest homelessness rates, and the lowest quality of life as a result. He has imposed sanctuary state status and fails to enforce immigration laws.
He unilaterally over-ruled the will of the people regarding the death penalty. He seeks to impose additional burdens on our state by the following: removing the protections of Proposition 13, rationing our water use, increasing taxes and restricting parental rights. Having no other recourse, we the people have come together to take this action, remedy these misdeeds and prevent further injustices.
Newsom fell in love early with COVID-19 lockdowns and stay-at-home orders, becoming the first governor to issue statewide mandates in March. Since then, as the pandemic waxed and waned, Newsom has continued to keep vast portions of his state closed, leading to a mass exodus. Meanwhile, he flouts his own orders as he did last fall.
New photos of a birthday party attended by California Gov. Gavin Newsom and his wife at an upscale restaurant in the wine country earlier this month appeared to show an unmasked group eating shoulder-to-shoulder indoors, according to a report.
The photos, obtained by FOX 11 in Los Angeles, were taken by a witness who told reporter Bill Melugin the governor’s group was being so loud the open sliding glass doors near where they were seated had to be closed. …
EXCLUSIVE: We've obtained photos of Governor Gavin Newsom at the Napa dinner party he's in hot water over. The photos call into question just how outdoors the dinner was. A witness who took photos tells us his group was so loud, the sliding doors had to be closed. 10pm on @FOXLA pic.twitter.com/gtOVEwa864

The controversy comes as Newsom announced new coronavirus restrictions this week, including closing indoor dining in a majority of counties across the state as cases surge in California and across the country.
Newsom, at the time, was just the latest Democrat hypocrite to violate his or her COVID restrictions. But so far, he’s the only one who’s facing a recall over it.
