According to Syracuse.com, U.S. Rep. John Katko says he will vote to impeach President Trump when the time comes.
Katko is the first House Republican to betray President Trump in this manner. He joins over 218 House Democrats who signed an impeachment resolution this week. According to reports, the House impeachment vote is expected to take place on Wednesday.
Here’s more from Syracuse.com:
“To allow the president of the United States to incite this attack without consequence is a direct threat to the future of our democracy,” Katko said in a statement. “For that reason, I cannot sit by without taking action. I will vote to impeach this president.
Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Illinois, is the only other GOP House member who has signaled he would consider an effort to remove Trump from office. But he has not specifically said he would vote for impeachment.
Katko said that as a former federal prosecutor, he approached the question of impeachment by reviewing the facts of what happened last week.
Sadly, what Katko is failing to take into consideration is that President Trump told his supporters to “peacefully and patriotically” protest.
“We’re going to walk down to the Capitol and we’re going to cheer on our brave Senators and Congressmen and women,” Trump said – never calling for protestors to breach the building or use physical force.
“I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard,” Trump added.
“If Trump had said something that ‘incited violence’ CNN would be playing it over and over, OAN anchor Jack Posobiec said on Twitter this week.
He followed up with a tweet proving that tens of thousands of other protesters were peaceful:
Sadly, the left and the mainstream media don’t care about facts whatsoever.
