On Wednesday, hundreds of United States troops joined the Washington D.C national guard to defend and protect United States monuments that are being threatened by radical-left demonstrators.
Earlier in the week, Interior Secretary David Bernhardt requested that action be taken against the far-left vandals who have been tearing down statues in response to the death of George Floyd.
Check out what Fox News reported:
Protesters on Monday attempted to tear down a statue of Andrew Jackson in Lafayette Square by the White House, and defaced it with the phrase "killer scum," Reuters reported. Berhardt said afterward that he visited Lafayette Square and witnessed the destruction. He said the country “will not bow to anarchists," and that "law and order will prevail, and justice will be served.”
The Lincoln Memorial and WWII Memorial were also defaced in earlier protests.
During a protest on Tuesday that took place in front of D.C. Emancipation Memorial, one demonstrator announced that on Thursday they would tear down the memorial's statue of Abraham Lincoln standing over a freed slave.
President Trump warned Tuesday morning that anyone caught vandalizing monuments or any other federal property would be subject to arrest and face up to 10 years in prison under federal law.
D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton however is bending down to the left-wing mob and introducing a bill that would call for the removal of the Emancipation Memorial.
"Although formerly enslaved Americans paid for this statue to be built in 1876, the design and sculpting process was done without their input, and it shows," Holmes Norton noted in a statement. "The statue fails to note in any way how enslaved African Americans pushed for their own emancipation. Understandably, they were only recently liberated from slavery and were grateful for any recognition of their freedom."
Democrat mayor of Boston, Marty Walsh is also considering taking down a statue of former President Abraham Lincoln, the man who is responsible for abolishing slavery.
Walsh's announcement comes after a petition was released which demanded that the statue be taken down.
Check out what the New York Post reported:
Mayor Marty Walsh’s office added that the pol wants a community discussion about its future and whether a new statue commemorating the end of slavery should be commissioned to take its place, according to the Boston Globe.
The controversial statue, situated in the city’s Park Square, is a replica of the Emancipation Memorial in Washington and shows Lincoln with one hand raised above a kneeling man with broken shackles on his wrists.
The monument was intended to show Lincoln freeing the man from slavery, but a new petition argues that it “instead represents us still beneath someone else.
“It says that it’s a statue that’s supposed to represent freedom. But, to me, it represents submissiveness,” said Tory Bullock, the crazed liberal who was responsible for starting the bogus petition.
“It represents ‘Know your place, because that’s where you belong.'”
Instead, Bullock wants a new statue that represents "equality."
“This is a great opportunity to get some local black artists involved in the creation of (a new) statue, to come up with something new that represents equality,” Bullock said.
