BREAKING: President Trump To “Immediately” Cut Funding For Sanctuary Cities

A bombshell court ruling from the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in Manhattan made on Wednesday, gave President Trump the absolute power to withhold funds to cities or states who do not comply with federal law enforcement.

In an announcement made to Twitter the next day, President Donald Trump put the final nail in the coffin of sanctuary cities, announcing his plans to “immediately” cut off funding for them.

This means up to 560 cities in the United States will no longer be receiving federal tax dollars, unless they begin to comply with federal law enforcement including Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.

“Federal Court Deals Major Blow To Sanctuary Cities.” @FoxNews In other words, there will be no more Federal Tax Dollars to States & Cities that will not cooperate with Federal Law Enforcement (ICE). This is BIG NEWS! Funds will be cut off immediately. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,” Trump tweeted.

The Trump administration has made several attempts in the past to get rid of sanctuary cities, however, three other appeals courts have struck down his previous proposals, saying it is unlawful for Trump to withhold grant money to States based upon the cities cooperation with federal law enforcement.

A spokesperson for the Justice Department spoke on the recent decision from the court, explaining:

“Today’s decision rightfully recognizes the lawful authority of the attorney general to ensure that Department of Justice grant recipients are not at the same time thwarting federal law enforcement priorities.”

Representatives in sanctuary jurisdiction fought back at the President after hearing the news, promising to challenge the ruling made in the courts.

Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York said he will “see President Trump back in court.”

“And we will win,” he added.

Gurbir Grewal, the attorney general of New Jersey, issued a similar statement saying:

“It’s unfortunate that the federal government has decided to weaponize the federal grant funding process in order to carry out the President’s anti-immigrant agenda.”

“I’m confident that we will ultimately prevail in the courts,” he concluded.

We have seen a serious crackdown on illegal immigration this past month thanks to the Trump administration. Elite tactical agents have been deployed to sanctuary cities to enforce the rule of law, and a new unit inside of the Justice Department was recently created to strip US citizenship from those who fraudulently obtained it via unlawful conduct.

Earlier this month, Attorney General Bill Barr also announced ‘sweeping sanctions’ against sanctuary cities, filing multiple lawsuits for unconstitutionally violating immigration law. Additionally, Barr says he plans to have the Department undergo unprecedented national reviews of certain attorney’s who break the law for illegal immigrants.
