Bye-Bye, RINO: Liz Cheney’s Opponent Gets More Crucial Endorsements before Primary

One of the most-watched battles in the GOP’s internal war against the RINOs is the primary battle for Wyoming’s sole House of Representatives seat, where conservative Harriet Hageman is going up against infamous Trump-hater Liz Cheney.

Cheney is relying on the typical RINO crowd, George Bush among them, for fundraising and support, hoping that voters will somehow look past her censure from the RNC, anti-Trump rhetoric, and participation on the hated January 6th Committee.

Hageman, on the other hand, is attempting to ride the populist wave and is relying on the bases of support typical to it. She secured Trump’s crucial endorsement of her as Cheney’s replacement, is being funded by MAGA billionaire Peter Thiel, and is rallying normal people in Wyoming to her banner.

Now, Hageman is winning yet more crucial endorsements that might help her push past whatever resistance long-time Cheney voters have of voting for someone else.

Kevin McCarthy, for example, the House Minority leader that has gotten more conservative recently, endorsed her, saying: “I am proud to endorse Harriet Hageman for Congress…I look forward to welcoming Harriet to a Republican majority next Congress, where together, we will hold the Biden Administration accountable and deliver much-needed solutions for the American people.

McCarthy’s vote of confidence is a big win for Hageman, as it might show recalcitrant conservatives used to voting for “Boomer Conservatives” like Cheney that Hageman is tolerable to the less populist but still conservative wing of the party.

And he’s not the only one jumping on the Hageman train. As the DC Enquirer reports:

Elise Stefanik soon followed suit and also endorsed Hageman for 2022. “I’m proud to endorse Harriet Hageman in her race to unseat Liz Cheney. House Republicans were ready for a change when I took over as Conference Chair, and it’s resoundingly clear that Wyoming families are too.” Stefanik later echoed the sentiment that Cheney has left the Republican party and Wyoming behind, saying “Liz Cheney abandoned her constituents to become a Far-Left Pelosi puppet.”

Meanwhile, Liz Cheney has only secured the endorsements of the Mitt Romney/Karl Rove wing of the GOP where the neocons that led us to disaster in Iraq and RINOs that constantly pluck defeat from the jaws of victory in the legislature hang out, as Hageman announced on Twitter:

Liz Cheney has the support of Never Trumpers Mitt Romney, Karl Rove, and the Northern Virginia special interests. I have the support of President Trump and the people of Wyoming. That is the difference in this race.

Hageman has more than a fighting chance of winning: right now, she has all those that detest leftists and RINOs and her side while Cheney is only supported by the holdovers from the weak Bush days. While that might not be a winning combination for her in a pink state, it almost certainly will be in a ruby-red conservative stronghold like Wyoming.

So, perhaps it’s time for Cheney to kiss her beloved, ego-boosting spot in Congress goodbye.
