On the day after House Republicans voted overwhelmingly to remove her from a leadership position, Liz Cheney made it clear that she isn’t going anywhere and could mount a 2024 White House run.
The embittered Wyoming congresswoman (who is the toast of the town in the D.C. swamp) embarked on a string of media appearances to spew venom against former President Donald J. Trump and his supporters.
Cheney appeared on NBC flagship the TODAY show where she dug in as the last line of defense by the Bush-McCain-Romney establishment. The same warmongers that have failed to regain control of the GOP from Trump, who remains a powerful influence.
Like her allies on the other side of the aisle, Cheney is very worried about the Maricopa County audit of the 2020 ballots. The possibility still looms that if significant differences are found between the totals reported and the actual evidence, that it could result in additional audits. All of which could yank the rug out from under Joe Biden.
Earlier this week, Cheney delivered a defiant speech where she accused Trump of conducting a “crusade to undermine our democracy,” she vowed that she would do “whatever it takes” to prevent him from returning to the White House.
JUST IN: “I'm going do everything that I can — both to make sure that that never happens, but also to make sure that the Republican party gets back to substance and policy.” -Rep. TODAY host Savannah Guthrie asked; “what does it say about former President Trump that he will not accept his loss?”
Cheney shot back, “That he’s unfit, you know, that never again can he be anywhere close to the Oval Office,” she said.”
Guthrie followed up, “How far are you willing to take this? Would you run for president?”
Cheney answered, “I think that it is the most important issue that we are facing right now as a country, and we are facing a huge array of issues so he must not ever again be anywhere close to the oval office.”
Not satisfied, Guthrie pushed the issue, “But my question was, would you run for president to stop that?”
She answered; “I’m gonna do everything that I can both to make sure that never happens but also to make sure that the Republican party gets back to substance and policy.”
Guthrie persisted, “Before I drop it, will you rule out a run for president?”
Cheney replied, “Right now I am very focused on making sure that our party becomes again a party that stands for truth and stands for fundamental principles that are conservative, um, and mostly stands for the Constitution, and I won’t let a former president or unravel the democracy.”
“Whatever it takes.” She added.
A Cheney run against Trump would undermine efforts to retake control of Congress and pry the Speaker’s gavel out of Nancy Pelosi’s fingers, but that matters little to the Never Trumpers. They seem to have embraced the idea that “We had to destroy the village in order to save it,” a quote that came to embody the futility of the Vietnam war.
The sad truth is that the narcissistic Cheney is really an arsonist who would burn the Republican party to the ground if that is what it takes to thwart “democracy” and the will of the people. Over 74 million Americans voted to reelect Trump and would do so again. However, she would just as soon surrender the Oval Office to Biden and the zealots behind his far-left policies out of spite.
Cheney’s teasing of a 2024 presidential run is music to the ears of the disgruntled RINOs, who have announced their intention to form their own anti-Trump party.
