Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot Openly Blames Republicans For Chicago Violence

While many mainstream media outlets hide the failures of many democrat-controlled cities, Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson sheds light on some of the issues in one of North America's largest and most populated metropolitan areas. Shootings and homicides have skyrocketed in Chicago since the beginning of the 2020 election season.

The idea of Defunding the Police has done nothing but fuel the violence in Chicago.  The city's mayor, Lori Lightfoot (D.), has been known to direct all blame toward Washington DC, particularly at the President.

In a press conference earlier this week, Lightfoot made a statement regarding the spike in violence.

In her words, "Why are we engaged in such violence? Because there are too many damn guns on our streets.  And why is that so? Because the republican leadership, for way too long, including this President, refuses to even have a conversation about common sense gun reform."

Keep in mind that Chicago has some of the strictest gun-laws in the United States. Moreover, Chicago hasn't had a republican mayor since the 1930's.

Tucker Carlson aired parts Lightfoot's press conference on his show. He was quick to also point out that Chicago's murder rate is now higher than many middle-eastern regions.

Lightfoot went on to post a Tweet on Friday evening where she, once again, mocked the idea of law-enforcement help at the federal level.

In her words, via Twitter

After a long week in which there's been a lot of concern about whether or not federal troops are coming to Chicago, I wanted to add some clarity and hopefully relieve the anxiety that i know many of you are feeling.  First, there are no federal troops coming to Chicago - period.

'Troops' are forces that come from the military and obviously that is not what is needed in Chicago...

I have made it clear that we do not need nor want troops - or any unnamed federal officers that we've seen in news reports from Portland.  I am confident that I've made that point crystal-clear on your behalf."

While President Trump is offering to send in the troops to help with the situation, Mayor Lightfoot refuses while blaming the President. It has become clear to many residents that Chicago's mayor stands proudly on the side of protesters and refuses to take federal help to get the city under control.

While regular citizens of Chicago live in fear of the angry left-wing mobs and gang-violence, Lori Lightfoot has made it a point to cater to the minority of protesters and ignore the safety of the general public.

Lightfoot's statement came just days after the death of a 3-year-old girl who was fatally shot in the head while sitting in the backseat of her father's SUV. The number of deaths, particularly amongst children, is rapidly growing in Chicago. This is a trend that will likely continue while the democratic mayor is in charge.
