On Wednesday, CNN hosts Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo mocked Christians over wearing masks to combat the coronavirus.
The comments came after Cuomo finished talking about Ohio state representative Nino Vitale who argued that people shouldn’t get tested for coronavirus and wearing a mask is against his own religious beliefs.
Lemon questioned, “What are these people — come on. Really?”
Cuomo jumped in to joke, “Thank God he’s Irish. Nino Vitale, couldn’t be more Italian than that name.”
Lemon responded, “I’m not getting in on that thing. How, I wonder if the people work for the pretzel companies. They should open like a pretzel business.”
Cuomo said, “Cause they got it twisted.”
Lemon continued by starting to poke fun at Christians, “They got it twisted. Well, uh, it’s religion.”
Cuomo then brought Jesus into the mix, saying, “Can’t wear a mask. You don’t see one on Jesus.”
Lemon said, “What is happening? Have you seen the videos of the people in the stores who are like ‘Get away from me! You’re threatening me! I don’t have to wear a mask!’ I want to play all of them. Not say anything and just let people see themselves. Just wear a mask. You got to wear a shirt. You got to wear shoes. You can’t go without pants, or I mean, come on. What’s wrong with people?”
Cuomo then targeted Trump supporters, stating, “I’ll tell you what, we have a lot more of this, go on and I’m going to wear a MAGA hat because it will be true. We will have to build up our greatness again. This is the most pathetic display.”

This isn’t the only recent outlandish thing that Lemon and Cuomo have said on air recently. On Tuesday, Lemon suggested that former President Barack Obama’s face should be added to Mt. Rushmore to fix the racial issues in America.
The comment came while Lemon was reacting to President Trump’s Independence Day speech at Mount Rushmore.
“You see the right-wing machine kick in, media machine kick in, when you see Trump’s poll numbers go south. They kick in with ‘Democratic cities are in chaos right now. Is this what you want from Joe Biden?’ And ‘they’re gonna take your country away,’ and ‘they’re taking down the statues,’ and ‘crime is rising. Oh my gosh, it’s so bad,’” Lemon said. “Defunding police. And the people who you saw there, for the most part – not them specifically, I’m talking about as a whole – fall for it. They fall for it, and that’s why they do things like what they did. They want to paint over signs and they think it’s ‘our country,’ ‘this is the country that we built.’”
Lemon continued by saying that America was built by black people which is why Obama’s face should be on Mount Rushmore.
“Even though a rich diversity of people helped to build this country, and many of us, meaning our ancestors, for free — did not get paid for it, could not get an education, could not build wealth, are not on statues, Confederate or otherwise, are not on Mount Rushmore,” he said. “I think, listen … if they’re going to put someone on Mount Rushmore, considering the history of this country, the first black president should be front and center.”
After Lemon went on his rant for why Obama’s face should be on Mount Rushmore, CNN host Chris Cuomo jumped in to endorse the idea.
“Add to Mount Rushmore. I think … first of all, I think it’s a more salable idea than the idea of taking away Founding Fathers,” said Cuomo.
“So, what’s wrong with all of us together thinking or reshaping our country so that more people – rethinking our country in the way we think and where our priorities are so that this country belongs to everyone,” Lemon said.
“Nothing’s wrong with it,” Cuomo replied.
Lemon added that Mount Rushmore is “stolen land” but failed to mention that the land was stolen from Native Americans who stole the land from other Native Americans.
“Maybe some of the people up there on Mount Rushmore, who knows? … The name shouldn’t be Mount Rushmore if you talk to Native Americans. They say it is stolen land. It was only Mount Rushmore 40 years before they started to carve presidents’ faces in it. No one got any money for that,” he said.
“You’re totally right. I think the premise is where we’re gonna have to work towards, which is, if we all decide. It’s about consensus and collective consciousness,” Cuomo finished.
