CNN's Jake Tapper Shreds The Biden Campaign: They're Not Campaigning Like Trump Is

During an interview on Sunday, CNN host Jake Tapper laid into former Vice President and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden during an interview with Democratic Senator Chris Coons.

The comments from Tapper came after Coons claimed that Biden was “campaigning tirelessly” ahead of the 2020 election. This claim is blatantly false considering Biden has called countless lids in recent months.

Tapper started off the interview by commenting on a statement that Biden campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon had made when she said that the presidential race was much closer than what polling was saying. He then mentioned all of the campaign stops President Trump had made and then asked Coons, "Where was Joe Biden?"

“Joe Biden takes no votes for granted,” Coons said. “As you know, both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have crisscrossed the country, campaigning in critical, decisive swing states —”

“Not the way President Trump is campaigning,” Tapper fired back.

Coons then deflected by saying that President Trump wasn't campaigning safely.

“I take your point on the unsafe rallies that the president is having but Joe Biden didn’t have any events yesterday,” Tapper said. “I’m not saying he should be having unsafe event but why is he taking a day off less than three weeks to go before the election?”

“Joe Biden has campaigned tirelessly but he has campaigned safely,” Coons said as he deflected by accusing President Trump of continuing to “lie, just incessantly, morning, noon and night.”

Coons then said that polling shows that Biden's campaign strategy is working.

“That is why I say don’t focus on the national polls. Focus on getting out and voting,” he said.

“I would just say that I think it’s pretty much the opposite of all the word ‘tireless’ to take a day off but let’s move on,” Tapper shot back.
