Democrats are going kicking and screaming into the long Memorial Day weekend after Senate Republicans successfully blocked a bill creating the sham “9/11 style” commission that was key to their plans of retaining control over Congress.
The creation of this travesty went down by a score of 54-35 with Republicans using their first filibuster of the Biden era, an added indignity to Dems that will almost certainly fuel renewed efforts to eliminate the last remaining obstacle to one-party tyranny.
The passage of the bill would have required ten GOP senators to slither into the enemy camp, well short of the six treacherous turncoats led by the three-headed monster of Mitt Romney, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski who joined Democrats.
Also crossing party lines were Ben Sasse, Rob Portman, and Bill Cassidy, all of who are on record as conspiring with Dems to undermine and otherwise sabotage former President Donald J. Trump throughout his four years in the White House. Nine other Republicans skipped the vote.
As expected, the defeat of Nancy Pelosi’s scheme to drag Trump supporters in front of a stacked kangaroo court with national media coverage in a spectacle straight out of the old USSR had Dems fuming.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer spat in rage that the Republican Party is now the party of the “Big Lie” and no longer the party of Abraham Lincoln.

Schumer’s remarks reek of hypocrisy with his insincere display of newfound respect for the nation’s 16th president who may have freed the slaves but has had his statues torn down by the Democrat mob, one which he has declined to condemn.
When it comes to the “Big Lie” few are more well-versed in such an idea that failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton who took to Twitter to crank out a triple-whopper with cheese that a policeman was killed by Trump supporters on January 6th.
An angry mob attacked our Capitol, our lawmakers, and our election.
They killed a policeman.
And Republican leaders would rather we all not know more about what happened.

Despite false media reports and brazen lies by Democrats, Officer Brian Sicknick was NOT killed by protesters; a falsehood having been debunked after the big lie that he had his head bashed in with a fire extinguisher wielded by a Trump supporter but Hillary has built a political career on a foundation of such lies.
Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans’ denial of the truth of the January 6th insurrection brings shame to the Senate. Republicans’ cowardice in rejecting the truth of that dark day makes our Capitol and our country less safe.

Madame Speaker was infuriated by seeing her top priority go down in flames, issuing a blistering statement against Mitch McConnell and the GOP “Leader McConnell and Senate Republicans’ denial of the truth of the January 6th insurrection brings shame to the Senate. Republicans’ cowardice in rejecting the truth of that dark day makes our Capitol and our country less safe.” She said.
She also used Sicknick’s mother as a human shield; “As Gladys Sicknick, the mother of fallen U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, said this week, the refusal to have a January 6th Commission was a ‘slap in the faces of all the officers who did their jobs that day.’ A new low for Pelosi.
Despite Pelosi and Schumer’s insincere rhetoric about protecting “democracy” a top House Democrat let the cat out of the bag about what the “9/11 style” commission is REALLY about when impeachment manager Jamie Raskin admitted that it is all about stopping Trump from running again by making him toxic.
In a Thursday appearance on CNN with Don Lemon; Raskin admitted that: “We need to get the truth out to those people, and Donald Trump should be an absolute pariah in America, as well as everybody who has been enabling his anti-social and anti-democratic conduct.” He said.
Schumer isn’t ready to give up the ghost just yet, as he has vowed that he would bring the bill back to the Senate floor after Congress takes its latest taxpayer-funded extended vacation, presumably giving him time to lure an additional four RINO’s although that may not be that simple after he and Susan Collins exchanged harsh words during the vote.

The Hill reports that the fracas may have been over Schumer’s politically charged speech when he attempted to shame Republicans into voting at the last minute. Senator Collins loves to pretend that she is above such things and she may have the media fooled but she is a cunning political animal.
Judging by the reaction from Democrats, they will likely have to settle with creating a House committee along the lines of the silly and pathetic tribunals that were commonplace during Trump’s tenure; a huge letdown from what would have been a guaranteed media circus that could be dragged out throughout the 2022 midterm elections.
