Dems Demand Steep Military Cuts To Fund Coronavirus Response

Democrats are looking to use the coronavirus as an excuse to destroy American and rebuild it to their liking even if it exposes the nation to attack from external enemies.
Moving to implement the Rahm Emanuel principle of never letting a good crisis go to waste, a collection of House Democrats is demanding cuts in the Defense budget in order to fund socialist programs under the pretense of a coronavirus response.
Earlier this week, the progressive cadre sent a letter to the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee that due to "unparalleled times" that money should be redirected from the military to their pet projects.
The Democrats signing the letter sent to committee chair Adam Smith and ranking member Mac Thornberry include Rep. Barbara Lee along with Reps Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley who are popularly known as "The Squad."
Nearly 30 Democrats are demanding that leaders of the House Armed Services Committee cut the defense budget amid the coronavirus pandemic.
In a letter to committee Chairman Adam Smith (D-Wash.) and ranking member Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Texas), the Democrats, most of whom are in the Congressional Progressive Caucus, urged the panel's top lawmakers to authorize a smaller defense budget in this year’s policy bill compared to last year’s.
“These are unparalleled times. We encourage you to constrain defense spending during this pandemic so that we can defeat the greatest threat to our nation – the coronavirus,” the Democrats wrote in the letter released Tuesday.
Rep. Mark Pocan (Wis.), co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, and Rep. Barbara Lee (Calif.) organized the letter. It was signed by 27 other Democrats, including firebrand “squad” members Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (Minn.), Ayanna Pressley (Mass.) and Rashida Tlaib (Mich.).
“America needs a coronavirus cure, not more war,” the letter said. “We need more testing, not more bombs. In order to reopen our nation in a data-driven, safe manner, we need to focus our spending efforts on the millions of additional coronavirus tests and tens of thousands of additional contract tracers we will need, as well as covering treatment costs, developing therapeutics, and distributing future vaccines.”
The socialist bloc could threaten the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) later this year.
Last month, Senate Democrats assailed Secretary Of Defense Mark Esper over the response to the coronavirus.
The party's disdain for the military has been well documented and under the tenure of Barack Obama, America's armed forces were diminished and demoralized with the former president being more interested in imposing sensitivity training than ensuring combat readiness.
All of that changed when President Trump was elected.
The military was rescued from the Obama horror show and was rebuilt and reinvigorated by a commander in chief who made it clear that our troops and veterans should be respected and honored instead of demonized and indoctrinated and morale has never been higher.
Rep. Omar has been a vociferous critic of U.S. foreign policy and the military and it was Rep. Lee who in 2001 was the only member of Congress to oppose retaliatory strikes against the terrorists who attacked America on 9/11.
Whose side are they really on?
