Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis clapped back at corporations, airlines, and some politicians who are now pushing so-called “vaccine passports” that they say Americans must have if they want to freely move around the country and enter venues, even as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to decline.
The popular governor made his remarks during a roundtable discussion featuring a number of well-respected doctors and immunologists, many of whom complimented him for the steps he and his administration took in handling the pandemic — namely, by using a light touch, protecting the most vulnerable population (unlike Andrew Cuomo), and ending restrictions at the soonest possible moment.
DeSantis also made it clear that there were be no vaccine passport requirement to travel to the Sunshine State, even as the concept is growing among the left-wing Marxist elite in the U.S. and abroad.
“The vaccine passport is a terrible idea. We are definitely not going to require anything from the state’s perspective. That is totally off the table,” DeSantis said. “If I have businesses that want to do that in Florida, I think that that’s more than just a private decision.”
The governor went on to say that any such requirement would severely impact the country and in particular disadvantaged people. Overall, he said, it would be a very “negative” move for Florida (and, really, any state — though you just know the idiots running the blue states are going to require it)
“So what form that would take, I’d have to discuss it with my folks. I’d have to discuss it potentially with the legislature. But I think it’s a very, very bad idea,” he continued.
“Look, if you want to go to a movie theater or concert, all this stuff, go. If you don’t, don’t. But to require somebody to show some type of proof of vaccination, I think, is completely unacceptable, and it’s not something that we’re going to support here in any way in Florida,” he pledged.
Breitbart News added:
As Breitbart News reported, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) “experts” are reportedly urging the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) to allow the communist regime to “build and run a global database for ‘vaccine passports’ documenting if every person on earth has received a Chinese coronavirus vaccine.”
A significant amount of hesitancy remains among Americans when it comes to receiving a vaccine for the virus. Forty-one percent say they are unwilling to receive the vaccine, a Harvard CAPS-Harris poll released this month found.
To that point, however, Israel is already requiring people to show an electronic vaccine passport before they are permitted to enter certain premises, according to Radio.com.
“Basically, you need to have at least one vaccination or two. And that’s it. I mean, it enables you to do a lot of things. There are an awful lot of things you can still do without a green passport, though,” CBS Correspondent Roger Berger said.
In particular, people need the digital pass in order to enter gyms, theaters, and other public venues — though it’s not clear how long Israel will require it.
“I don’t think it’s that controversial because a huge portion of the Israeli population has actually been vaccinated, over 60%. So there are some issues, but I think, certainly, people like the idea that the COVID rate is going down and they can start to do some things. The people who don’t have it, of course, do feel left out,” he added.
