Democrats and their establishment media lapdogs are whining that Republicans plan to challenge electoral college ballots later this week when Congress meets in joint session to count them because they believe that in several states, voting rules were unconstitutionally changed ahead of Election Day.
That’s nothing but “conspiracy and fantasy,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) claimed last week.

“The effort by the sitting President of the United States to overturn the results is patently undemocratic,” he said, as reported by PJ Media. “The effort by others to amplify and burnish his ludicrous claims of fraud is equally revolting.”
“This is America. We have elections. We have results. We make arguments based on the fact and reason—not conspiracy and fantasy,” he added.
“The political equivalent of barking at the moon,” Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., added after hearing that of Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) was joining the challenge to electoral slates. “This won’t be taken seriously, nor should it be. The American people made a decision on Nov. 3rd and that decision must and will be honored and protected by the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.”
But here’s the thing: These same Democrats, and others, who are bashing Hawley and House Republicans for opposing electors had no problem with it when Democrats were challenging electors in each of the last three GOP victories.
The last three times a Republican has been elected president — Trump in 2016 and George W. Bush in both 2000 and 2004 — Democrats in the House have brought objections to the electoral votes in states the GOP nominee won. In early 2005 specifically, Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., along with Rep. Stephanie Tubbs, D-Ohio, objected to Bush’s 2004 electoral votes in Ohio.
That forced the chambers to leave their joint session and debate separately for two hours on whether to reject Ohio’s electoral votes. Neither did. But the objection by Boxer and Tubbs serves as a modern precedent for what is likely to happen in Congress on Jan. 6.
Oh, and when Boxer was objecting, that hypocrite, Durbin, praised her.
“Some may criticize our colleague from California for bringing us here for this brief debate,” Durbin said on the Senate floor following Boxer’s objection, while noting that he would vote to certify the Ohio electoral votes for Bush. “I thank her for doing that because it gives members an opportunity once again on a bipartisan basis to look at a challenge that we face not just in the last election in one State but in many States.”

Got that? Good patriotic stuff when Democrats object to Republican electors, but it’s constitutional crisis time when a Republican objects – despite the very obvious fact that several of the battleground states violated Article II of the Constitution in changing their voting rules before Election Day.
