Billionaire George Soros is once again trying to buy an election.
According to a new report, Soros has dumped $1.5 million into the Los Angeles County district attorney race in an effort to replace the current D.A. with a more progressive one.
Check out what the Daily Wire reported:
A campaign report reveals philanthropist George Soros is funding efforts to replace Los Angeles County’s district attorney with a more progressive alternative in November. The New York billionaire recently made a $1.5 million contribution to a political action committee backing the reform-minded challenger, according to the Friday filing. Soros previously bankrolled the same PAC during the 2018 election cycle when it had targeted several other prosecutor races in California.
Prominent organizers and national donors who favor sweeping criminal justice reforms are involved with the L.A. County contest. The election will determine the direction of the largest prosecutor’s office in the United States. With more than ten million residents, L.A. is the nation’s most populous county. It is also home to America’s biggest jail system.
The two-term incumbent is Democrat Jackie Lacey, L.A. County’s first black district attorney, who has the support of law enforcement unions and many politicians that make up the local political establishment. However, some elected officials, like U.S. Reps. Adam Schiff and Ted Lieu, withdrew their endorsements after nationwide calls for systemic change recently intensified.
According to an independent expenditure report, the California Justice and Public Safety PAC received Soros’ massive donation on Thursday, September 24. The document also indicated the committee spent more than $930,000 on television and digital advertisements supporting Lacey’s opponent, Democrat George Gascón.
Lacey has been bird dogged by a coalition of activist groups for her unwillingness to prosecute police officers who have fatally shot civilians. The Black Lives Matter-led protests against her escalated on March 2, the day before the primary election, when Lacey’s husband pointed a gun at demonstrators who showed up uninvited at the couple’s home around 5:30 am. Partial video of the encounter went viral.
Lacey did not garner more than 50% support in the three-way race the next day, forcing a November runoff. She captured 48.65% of the vote. Gascón finished second, with 28.22%.
Soros has a history of trying to sway local elections and conservatives are trying to sound the alarm however the main stream media is trying to silence them.
In mid-September, Fox News cut off former Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich after he rightly called Soros for his roll in swaying elections in the past by funding campaigns for far-left prosecutors.
Gingrich stated that the rise of crime in many left-wing cities was due to the progressive district attorneys who fail to do their job. The district attorneys were given financial help by Soros himself.
“Look, the number one problem in almost all these cities is George Soros-elected, left-wing, anti-police, pro-criminal district attorneys who refuse to keep people locked up,” Gingrich said. “Just yesterday they put somebody back on the streets who’s wanted for two different murders in New York City.”
He added: “You cannot solve this problem — and both [Kamala] Harris and [Joe] Biden have talked very proudly out what they call ‘progressive district attorneys’. Progressive district attorneys are anti-police, pro-criminal, and overwhelmingly elected with George Soros’s money.
“And they’re a major cause of the violence we’re seeing because they keep putting the violent criminals back on the street,” Gingrich continued.
“I’m not sure we need to bring George Soros into this,” Francis responded.
“He paid for it,” Gingrich shot back. “I mean, why can’t we discuss that fact that millions of dollars….”.
“No he didn’t,” Harf said. “I agree with Melissa. George Soros doesn’t need to be a part of this conversation.”
“Okay, so it’s verboten,” Gingrich continued as he used the German word for “forbidden.”
