It was another weekend in Chicago, so it was another weekend of horrific bloodshed and violence as thugs battled it out in Lori Lightfoot’s recreation of Iraq in 2006-2007.
This weekend, the most horrific part of the weekend’s orgy of blood was that the youngest victim was a mere six year old, a girl who was in the backyard of her home when grazed by a bullet on Saturday afternoon. Fox, reporting on that tragic incident, said:
A 6-year-old grazed by a bullet Saturday afternoon in Calumet Heights was reported to be in good condition after being taken to a hospital for treatment, according to Chicago police.
The girl was in the backyard of a home about 4 p.m. in the 9100 block of South Paxton Avenue when the bullet grazed her thigh, police said.
Fortunately, however, the girl was released in good condition after being taken to the hospital for treatment of her gunshot wound.
This is just the most recent horror in a parade of horrific tragedies rolling out of Lori Lightfoot’s Chiraq. It was just last weekend, Memorial Day weekend, that 50 people were shot and ten killed in what was a sickening level of violence for anywhere, but particularly a single city in America.

This past weekend, though somewhat less violent than the last, was still bloody. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, thirty-three people were shot and six were killed over the past weekend, with most of the violence cropping up in just a few neighborhoods:
Nearly all of the shooting victims this weekend were wounded on the South and West sides. Three people were shot on the North Side in North Center and Old Town, while one person was shot on the Southwest Side in Brighton Park.
Almost a quarter of victims were shot in the 10th police district that covers Lawndale on the West Side, the area of the city that had the most victims over Memorial Day weekend, which was the most violent in five years.
Further, a police officer was among those shot this past weekend, with the same outlet reporting that a Chicago cop was hospitalized after being shot in the arm and torso. He had followed a car into an alley, at which point a man hopped out of the car and started firing at the police who were following him, wounding the officer, the third cop shot in Chicago in the past week alone. Police said that the shooter had also been wounded and was in the hospital.
Lori Lightfoot is one of the foremost gun control advocates in America, even among the gun-grabbing radicals on her side of the aisle. However, it would appear that she can’t even enforce the existing laws in her own city, so perhaps she should focus on restoring order to one of the nation’s foremost cities before calling for yet more laws that punish law-abiding citizens.
