Congresswoman Ilhan Omar's husband, Ahmed Hirsi, reportedly is pushing for a divorce after it was revealed that the representative was having an affair with political consultant Tim Mynett who happened to be married as well.
The bombshell report revealed that Omar allegedly used tens of thousands of campaign donation dollars to fund "travel expenses" which were actually used to fund the affair between her and Mynett.
The Federal Election Commission (FEC) uncovered that Omar made travel payments in early April to E. Street Group, LLC, the company owned by Mynett. Just one week later, Mynett's wife Dr. Beth Jordan Mynett accused her husband of having an affair with Omar.
"Dr. Beth Jordan Mynett says her cheating spouse, Tim Mynett, told her in April that he was having an affair with the Somali-born US representative and that he even made a 'shocking declaration of love' for the Minnesota congresswoman before he ditched her, alleges the filing, submitted in DC Superior Court on Tuesday," The New York Post reported.
The New York Post is now reporting that Omar's husband Hirsi "is poised to file for divorce after the revelation in a bombshell court filing that she allegedly had an affair with DC political consultant Tim Mynett."
"The Minnesota congresswoman and her husband allegedly separated in March, and Omar asked Hirsi to divorce her around that time because she didn't want to file the papers — but Hirsi refused, telling her if she wanted a divorce she should do it herself, said the source, who has known both parties for 20 years," The New York Post reports. "The husband allegedly changed his mind after Tim Mynett's wife last week filed bombshell divorce papers claiming her spouse was having an affair with the Somali-born US representative — with Hirsi said to be angry he had been made to look the fool by the allegations of an extramarital affair."
This development is huge considering just last week, Omar claimed in an interview that her and her husband were still together, denying that they had split up.
During an interview with a news station in Minnesota, Omar was asked if she was dating someone else. "No, I am not," she replied. She failed to give any other information regarding to the bombshell report.
“I have no interest in allowing the conversation about my personal life to continue and so I have no desire to discuss it,” Omar added.
The reporter eased up: “You seem completely unfazed and unbowed by negative publicity about your personal life that you don’t want to comment on. How do you do it?”
“I know who I am. The people who I love know who I am and what I care about,” Omar said. “I have three beautiful little children and a family to care for, so for me, my focus is doing the work that I feel I was destined to do.”
The man Omar allegedly had an affair with has admitted that he cheated on his wife with Omar.
Tim and Jordan Mynett were "physically separated on or about April 7, 2019, when Defendant told Plaintiff that he was romantically involved with and in love with another woman, Ilhan Omar."
The New York Post continued: "The 37-year-old congresswoman and mom of three paid Tim Mynett and his E. Street Group approximately $230,000 through her campaign since 2018 for fundraising consulting, digital communications, Internet advertising and travel expenses."
Tom Anderson who happens to be a government ethics watchdog, warned that if Omar used campaign funds to fund an affair, she may be in legal jeopardy.
“We believe Representative Ilhan Omar may have touched the third rail of campaign finance law: disbursing campaign funds for personal use,” Anderson said as he warned that Omar will most likely do it again. “It’s a brazen act Representative Omar was caught doing before in Minnesota and all of the evidence we’ve seen tells us she’s probably doing it again.”
