‘It’s a Maddening Crisis’: Cruz Rips Biden From Live Shot Under Texas Bridge Where 10k Migrants Gathered

Sen. Ted Cruz ripped into President Joe Biden and his administration Thursday following the discovery of thousands of mostly Haitian migrants congregated under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas.

The footage, first reported by Fox News, went viral ahead of a Federal Aviation Administration order temporarily banning drone flights over the group, estimated to be around 10,000 with thousands more on the way, citing “special security concerns.”

“It’s a maddening crisis,” Cruz said from the border. “Just over a week ago, there were fewer than a thousand people here under the bridge, averaging between 700 and 1000.

“Then, on September 8th, the Biden administration made a decision to cancel deportation flights back to Haiti. The vast majority of these illegal immigrants crossing into Del Rio are from Haiti,” which is thousands of miles and an ocean away, the Texas Republican continued.

“And [when the Biden administration] made that decision eight days ago, the 700 to a thousand people who were here discovered they could stay, they pulled out their cell phones,” Cruz continued.

“They called their friends, they called their family, and eight days later, 700 people became 10,503,” he added

He went on to say said that the situation is a “manmade disaster” coming as the “result of political decisions” and that Biden could fix the problem easily just by following the law and reinstating deportation flights.

“Let me say to the heroes, the men and women of Border Patrol, who are risking their lives trying to do a job that their political superiors won’t let them do. We appreciate your courage. We appreciate your service,” Cruz noted.

“When you have open borders, this is what you get,” Cruz concluded. “This is wrong. This is not humane. This is not compassionate. This is lawless, and it is inviting suffering. This needs to end.”

Another GOP senator, John Kennedy of Louisiana, also denigrated the administration for perpetuating the crisis and doing too little to stop it.

When it comes to illegal immigration, the Biden administration lies like they breathe. They’re like timeshare salesmen. I mean, they’re peerless,” Kennedy told Fox News on Friday.

“The truth is that the Biden administration has an open border policy. The truth is that this year we’ll have well over two million people coming into our country, allowed in by the president, and we don’t have the slightest idea who they are,” he continued.

“I believe that the reason that they’re limiting drone usage is because they don’t want the American public to know, and I think this is illegal,” the Louisiana Republican went on.

“I think they’re also misreading the American people. The American people support legal immigration. That’s why we welcome about a million of our world’s neighbors every year to become American citizens legally,” he said.

“That’s more than any other country in the world. But we do not support illegal immigration.”

Biden put Vice President Kamala Harris in charge of solving the border crisis in March. She has made a trip to Central America and Mexico to discuss the issue with regional leaders, and made a single trip to the border, visiting a processing center in El Paso, a portion of the border that has not been inundated with migrants.
