On Friday, former FBI Director James Comey compared President Donald Trump and his supporters to Al-Qaeda radicalized terrorists during an interview with The View.
Co-host Sunny Hostin asked, “Director Comey, pro-Trump rioters stormed the Capitol to protest Trump losing the election. How much of what we saw should be blamed on Trump’s radicalization message of a rigged and stolen election, and what about the rioters who stormed the Capitol? Do you consider them to be domestic terrorists?”
Comey replied, “First, they are terrorists. They are people bent on coercing a civilian government, attacking our democracy because of their warped view of reality. The reason their view is warped is because of the president’s lies, and it’s not just the lie about the election, which is the prime mover for this attack on Capitol Hill. It’s four years of constant lying about the virus, about our institutions, about our courts, about our democracy. The demagogue’s lies have great power, especially when they’re echoed by his enablers in the Senate and the House and the media. This is how Al-Qaeda radicalized, a constant torrent of lies at vulnerable people.”
He added, “We have millions of vulnerable people in this country who have consumed these lies, and some portion of them have been radicalized to the point where they believe they’re on the side of the angels who have to engage in violence directed against us. So it’s a serious threat. It’s a terrorism threat. Donald Trump and his enablers —we want to make sure we keep the receipts because a lot of people are going to deny they had any connection to it come a few months from now, but that group of people is a radicalized group of terrorists.”
Democrats have been ramping up their rhetoric against President Trump and his supporters in recent days.
During the House impeachment debate on Wednesday, multiple Democrats called President Donald Trump a racist which was encouraged by a temporary rule change that was made earlier in the week.
Recently-sworn-in Rep. Cori Bush called President Trump the “white supremacist-in-chief”
Rep. Rashida Tlaib joined in, calling him the “racist-in-chief.”
This sort of language was due to a temporary rule change passed by House Democrats.
Check out what Breitbart reported:
Normally, such language is prohibited by House rules. But House Democrats passed a temporary rule change on Tuesday that applies to debate on H. Res. 21 and H. Res. 24. The former urged Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump (which he declined to do); the latter is the article of impeachment against President Trump.
The rule change “Provides that the prohibition against personality in debate with respect to references to the President shall not apply during consideration of H. Res. 21 or any special order of business providing for the consideration of H. Res. 24.”
The new rule passed the House Rules Committee along party lines. A congressional source informed Breitbart News on background that the rule would expire by the end of January.
On Thursday, Socialist Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez released a video of her demanding that Senators Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz resign for questioning the 2020 election.
The video was cringeworthy to say the least and featured Ocasio-Cortez attempting to scold the two Republican senators.
“I want to be clear to Senator Ted Cruz. You do not belong in the United States Senate. I want to be clear to Senator Josh Hawley. You do not belong in the United States Senate,” she said as she tried to be a tough girl.
“You do not belong in any democratically elected seat when you do not believe that that election was even legitimate according to your self-serving claims,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “So get out!”
“If they had any shred of integrity, any shred of integrity about their claims, their lies really, but their claims about this election, they would take off their pin and turn it in,” she continued. “But this isn’t about the truth to them. This is about if they want to be president in 2024. Let me give you a sneak peak. You will never be president. You will never command the respect of this country. Ever. Ever. And you should resign. So should every member of Congress that voted to overturn the results of our election.”
