Leading Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who serves as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, confirmed a new investigation into officials at the FBI that played a role in allowing false information to be presented to the FISA courts and obtain spy warrants on President Trump’s campaign for alleged Russian collusion in the 2016 election. The announcement from Senator Lindsey Graham revealed that congressional hearings within the committee will begin as early as next month, noting that they will be reviewing several instances in which members of the Trump campaign were illegally targeted by law enforcement.
GOP investigators are hoping to find more details on the abuse of power that members of the intelligence community committed throughout their Crossfire Hurricane investigation, first placing particular focus on individuals in the Obama administration that were revealed to have called for unmasking General Flynn’s identity in recently declassified documents from the Director of National Intelligence.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-SC, announced Thursday that his committee will proceed with hearings on the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation starting in June, Graham said in a statement Thursday after President Donald Trump pressured him on Twitter earlier in the day.
“The Judiciary Committee will begin holding multiple, in-depth congressional hearings regarding all things related to Crossfire Hurricane starting in early June,” Graham said, “Our first phase will deal with the government’s decision to dismiss the Flynn case as well as an in-depth analysis of the unmasking requests made by Obama Administration officials against General Flynn. We must determine if these requests were legitimate.
He added, “Our next area of inquiry, later this summer, will be oversight building upon the Horowitz report about FISA abuses against Carter Page. My goal is to find out why and how the system got so off the rails. Finally, we will look at whether Robert Mueller should have ever been appointed as Special Counsel. Was there legitimate reason to conclude the Trump campaign had colluded with the Russians?”
Since President Trump’s acquittal in the Senate late last year, Republican lawmakers and officials in the Justice Department have advanced counter investigations on the FBI uncovering disturbing information that details just how extensively some individuals abused their power to pursue a faulty investigation against President Trump.
Senator Lindsey Graham released a slew of documents earlier this month that included transcripts of a meeting between a confidential informant at the FBI and Trump’s campaign associate George Papadopolous, which proved that the intelligence community purposefully withheld exculpatory information from the courts in order to continue a warrantless investigation on President Trump.
The 90-page-long transcript of a meeting between George Papadopolous and a confidential informant at the FBI brought about no concerns of potential election interference with Russia, however law enforcement excluded exculpatory information from the meeting with the associate on President Trump’s campaign in order to continue their investigation anyways.
United States prosecutor John Durham, who was tapped by Attorney General Barr last year to review the early actions of individuals investigating President Trump, has also played a significant role in uncovering the FBI’s abuse of power. So far, the prosecutor has conducted several interviews with officials in the intelligence community, and he is reportedly examining communications between former CIA Director John Brennan, who allegedly kept several agencies of the government in the dark to make President Trump look bad in regards to potential election interference with the Russians.
As investigations against high ranking individuals in the Obama Administration and intelligence community pick up speed, some Republican lawmakers have issued high hopes for the upcoming report that is set to be released by United States prosecutor John Durham, and President Trump even seems to be confident that criminal indictments will come about as a result of the long-awaited report from the Justice Department.
