Some supporters of President Donald Trump made a serious error in judgment earlier this week when they decided to break into the U.S. Capitol Building and assault (and allegedly kill) one police officer in the process.
Looking back, it’s easy to believe that some of those people were lambasting Antifa and Black Lives Matter supporters all last year as they attacked innocents, burned buildings, looted businesses, and even killed supporters of the president.
The invasion of the people’s house was not only a criminal act, but it was also monumental hypocrisy – in spite of the well-earned frustration many of us have felt after having lost a presidential election in an unprecedented manner and after four years’ worth of enduring physical and political abuse.
But Republicans are not the party of violence and hypocrisy – Democrats are, as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York proved again on Friday.

Her communications director is appealing to Twitter to ban users from sharing previous tweets AOC sent praising and supporting violence protests all throughout last year, because tweet-quoting the congresswoman somehow creates “misinfo.”
“@AOC’s Comms Director here. Right-wing accounts are taking the last tweet from this old thread on the ‘defund’ mvmnt & twisting it to imply AOC supports violence like what’s happening at the Capitol. We asked @Twitter to stop the misinfo, but as we wait, you can help with a RT,” Lauren Hitt wrote on the platform Wednesday after the assault on the Capitol Building.
Ocasio-Cortez posted the Twitter violence-supporting thread barely a month before Wednesday’s incident.
“The thing that critics of activists don’t get is that they tried playing the ‘polite language’ policy game and all it did was make them easier to ignore. It wasn’t until they made folks uncomfortable that there was traction to do ANYTHING even if it wasn’t their full demands,” she wrote.
“The whole point of protesting is to make ppl uncomfortable. Activists take that discomfort w/ the status quo & advocate for concrete policy changes. Popular support often starts small & grows. To folks who complain protest demands make others uncomfortable… that’s the point,” she added.
And to be clear, the New York lawmaker has a history of backing riots.
“I believe injustice is a threat to the safety of all people. Because once you have a group that is marginalized and marginalized and marginalized … once someone doesn’t have access to clean water, they have no choice but to riot. And it doesn’t have to be that way. I’m not even talking about Palestinians. I’m talking about communities in poverty in the United States; I’m talking about Latin America; I’m talking about all over the world,” she told a New York radio station in August.
Again, this is all monumental hypocrisy, but while Twitter banned President Donald Trump permanently for not condoning violence, AOC the Leftist will get away with it because Jack Dorsey, Twitter founder and CEO, agrees with her.
