MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has gone off the deep end — again.
During a recent segment with guest NAACP Legal Defense Counsel Sherrilyn Ifill, Maddow suggested that some Trump administration officials may need to “go to jail” to prevent Trump’s method of challenging the election to become “a new normal.”
“I feel like one of the things that we are — I feel like we’re entering a new phase. We’ve got the GSA ascertaining that President-elect Joe Biden is going to be the next president. There should be a transition process. The president basically acceding to that,” Maddow began.
“We’ve got this thing that’s ended in Michigan in terms of the certification. I feel like we’re sort of now waking up to new realities. One of the things that I’m concerned about is what the Trump administration is going to do during this lame-duck period and in the transition to try to set the place on fire proverbially as they go,” Maddow continued.
“I think a lot of people are also worried about what you were describing there, about these tactics both by the president and by his campaign and by Republicans who support him that after an election, elections officials are now subject to lobbying, subject to pressure, subject to enticement or threats in a way that should get them to do whatever their party or the party in power or anybody else who has an effect in terms of influencing them can get them to do,” she said.
“I want to go back to that not being a norm in our democracy. I’m worried that now that the Trump administration has set this precedent, it will be, and it feels like the only way to stop that becoming the new normal, at least in Republican politics, is for some people to go to jail for it or to feel like they are going to get in trouble if they get caught doing something like that. Is that the right way to think about it?” she snidely asked.
It’s actually quite hilarious that Maddow is talking about punishing Trump officials for pushing information she claims is fake.
Maddow has been pushing unfounded and salacious conspiracy theories for years.
She has levied a barrage of unproven allegations at President Trump and Republicans for quite some time, including claiming to her viewers that there’s evidence of collusion with Russia.
Maddow was dealt a devastating blow last year after One America News Network smacked her with a $10 million lawsuit.
According to Law and Crime, OANN sued Maddow, MSNBC, Comcast Corporation, and NBC Universal for defamation and alleged Maddow “maliciously and recklessly” went after the network by suggesting it is a Russian state propaganda outlet.
“This is vile, sensationalistic reporting,” OANN’s lawyer, Skip Miller, said according to a previous press release. “These defamatory statements must be retracted immediately. One America News Network has no connection to the Russian government or any other government — no connection whatsoever, financial or otherwise.”
Maddow eventually got the lawsuit dropped in court, but the point still stands that her endless Trump-Russia collusion theories almost cost her and MNSBC $10 million.
