Monday Night Football Ratings Drop Closes Out Dismal Week For "Woke" NFL

The Monday Night Football doubleheader put an exclamation point on the miserable failure of the NFL's decision to go "woke" in order to appease Black Lives Matter and the cult of Colin Kaepernick.

In what looks to be the "new normal" the league's week one ratings were drastically down as fans tuned out rather than be insulted by pontificating millionaire players who lectured them about racism.

Monday's ratings were down double digits over last year for the games televised by ESPN, the wokest network in sports that paid dearly for the MNF television rights.

The first game between the New York Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers saw a 17 percent drop from last year while the nightcap between the Denver Broncos and the Tennessee Titans plummeted a staggering 27 percent from 2019.

Via Breitbart News, "Weak 1: Monday Night Football Ratings Crash by over 20% Amid Social Justice Protests":

The ratings for ESPN’s Monday Night Football are in, and they are not going to make the folks in Bristol very happy at all.

Against the backdrop of large-scale social justice demonstrations that included Black Lives Matter t-shirts, a giant social justice banner, an entire team standing for the “black national anthem,” and at least 20 players kneeling in protest during the actual national anthem, the Steelers-Giants MNF contest saw a 27% drop from last year.

The second game of the Monday Night Football double-header, saw another notable drop of 2.5 million viewers from last year’s mark.

These numbers are bad, needless to say. However, the full context of how bad they are can’t be appreciated until you factor in two notable variables that have been included in this year’s rating formula which should be helping the NFL, but aren’t.

First, as Outkick reports, roughly 1.2 million fans aren’t attending the games live. Which, in theory, should add to the television numbers since it would be assumed that those fans would be watching at home. Second, speaking of the home, out-of-home viewers are now accounted for in the ratings process for the first time.

The host of the late game, the Denver Broncos issued a pre-game statement doubling-down on their commitment insulting a huge chunk of their rabid fanbase by suggesting that they may be racists.

The Broncos also showed up en masse at the George Floyd protest in downtown Denver back in June wearing t-shirts with the confrontational, grammatically challenged slogan 'If you ain't with us, you against us' which doesn't do a damn thing to address the educational issues with inner-city blacks.

The Broncos went on to lose the snoozer 17-14 as it looks like another wretched season of offensive and coaching futility is in store for what remains of their fanbase.

Monday's ratings collapse is the continuation of a trend with nationally televised games starting with Thursday's season opener between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans being down double digits and the Sunday night tilt between the LA Rams and Dallas Cowboys which clocked in with a 28 percent drop from 2019.

The only game that overperformed was superstar quarterback Tom Brady's first game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday but the six-time Super Bowl winner stunk out loud and if it is a trend, he may not help Roger Goodell save a ship that is going down fast.

Get woke, go broke.
