New Jobs Data From Michigan Is Horrible News For America Under Biden

The numbers are in and there is no denying that Democrat policies have had a devastating effect on the economy in states where authoritarian governors locked down their citizens and destroyed lives and businesses.

It’s hard to believe that one year ago, the nation’s economic engine was roaring and President Trump was on cruise control for a second term in the White House until the COVID pandemic opened the door for Democrats to seize their opportunity.

Media-generated mass hysteria pushed Trump to declare the state of emergency that Democrats needed to impose crushing restrictions in numerous large states including Michigan, a battleground in the 2020 election that was critical to his reelection hopes.

Few governors exercised their dictatorial powers with a heavier hand than Gretchen Whitmer who waged a campaign of economic terror in the Wolverine State that has resulted in staggering job losses and a 7.5 percent unemployment rate.

Michigan’s unemployment rate increased in December for the second straight month, a troubling sign for the speed of the state’s economic recovery after the rate was steadily declining for several months since the early days of the pandemic.

The state’s unemployment rate increased to 7.5% in December, up from 7% the month prior, according to data released Thursday from the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget. November’s jobless rate was revised up from 6.9% to 7%.

Michigan’s jobless rate over the course of 2020 was 9.7%, preliminary estimates show, a significant jump from 4.1% in 2019, reflecting the widespread job losses caused by the pandemic. Last year’s unemployment rate is the highest the state has seen since 2011, when it reached 10.4%.

It also marks the first time the unemployment rate has risen since 2009 during the recession, when it hit 13.7%.

Michigan’s Whitmer-induced woes include the loss of 64,000 jobs in December which led the nation according to the Bureau Of Labor And Statistics:

The largest employment decreases occurred in Michigan (-64,400), California (-52,200), and Minnesota (-49,800).

The BLS report also shows that Michigan lost 486,800 jobs in 2020, coming in third behind New York and California which are also controlled by lockdown-crazed Democrats.

Numbers from Michigan are an early indicator of what is yet to come for the nation’s economy now that Joe Biden has settled into his role as job-killer in chief.

In Biden’s first days as the nation’s 46th president, he destroyed tens of thousands of well-paying jobs with the stroke of his pen by canceling the Keystone XL pipeline and putting a 60-day moratorium on new leases for oil and gas drilling that will almost certainly be extended.

With Biden’s new administration filled with far-left ideologues who are pushing for the radical transformation of America’s economy to implement the socialist Green New Deal, the job losses in his first year will likely throw tens of millions more Americans who have survived the Dem lockdowns out of work.

How bad is it going to get?

Biden’s Energy Secretary is Jennifer Granholm who as Whitmer’s predecessor left the state on the precipice of an economic disaster until her replacement as governor finished the job.

God help us all.
