We had no illusions that the ‘establishment media’ would change course and begin treating President Joe Biden 180 degrees differently than they treated President Donald Trump.
We just have been surprised, a bit, by the rapidity of the change.
No sooner than Trump was out of office, the Washington Post closed its ‘fact check project’ which allegedly recorded more than 30,000 “lies” and untruths uttered by the former president.
“The database of Trump claims was started a month after Trump became president as a way to not overwhelm our fact-checking enterprise, where the core mission is to explain complex policy issues,” The Post’s director of communications Shani George told The Daily Caller.
“While we do not have plans to launch a Biden database at this time, we will continue to dig into the accuracy of statements by political figures of all party affiliations.”
No, they won’t. And neither will the highly partisan New York Times, a correspondent of which is already chirping about how Biden’s going to usher in the second coming of Jesus or something like that.
The Times’ Elizabeth Dais writes:
Hours before President Biden took the oath of office, he entered the front pew of the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, the seat of Catholic Washington, and beheld the mosaics behind the altar.
An intimate group of family, friends and congressional leaders had gathered for Mass, in the place where Pope Francis spoke in 2015 and where the funeral for John F. Kennedy, the nation’s first Roman Catholic president, was held.
When it was time for the homily, the Rev. Kevin F. O’Brien, the president of Santa Clara University and friend of the Biden family, compared Mr. Biden’s upcoming inaugural message to the words of Jesus.
“Your public service is animated by the same conviction to help and protect people and to advance justice and reconciliation, especially for those who are too often looked over and left behind,” said the good reverend.
“This is your noble commission,” he said. “This is the divine summons for all of us.”
“What Would Jesus Do” — about Biden’s allegiance to and faith in abortion, which used to be one of the biggest abominations to Catholics?
One of Biden’s first acts in office, expected to come this week, will be to reverse President Donald Trump’s adherence to the Mexico City policy, a Reagan-era pro-life initiative that bans the use of taxpayer funds to foreign organizations that promote or provide abortion services.
Speaking of Trump, if any president did more to protect Americans’ religious liberties in the modern era, we’d like to know who it is because we expect Biden’s left-wing handlers to continue the same Obama-style assault on that portion of the First Amendment.
The same leftists who attack Christianity on a regular basis (including at the New York Times) will allow Biden to profess his supposed belief in Catholic doctrine unmolested so long as he remains far more allegiant to the holy grail of abortion.
