A new report claims that former President Barack Obama won’t go to the traditional ceremonial unveiling of his White House portrait as long as his successor, President Donald Trump is in office.
But given what we are continuing to learn about Obama’s ‘alleged’ involvement in guiding a plot to keep Trump from ever having a presidential portrait, staying away is probably a good idea.
According to NBC News, sources said that not only will Obama forgo having his and former first lady Michelle Obama’s portraits unveiled anytime soon, but that he is willing to wait until 2025 to have them revealed in the East Room of the White House.
If true, Obama’s recalcitrance would mark the first time since Ronald Reagan’s first term that the current White House occupant didn’t host his predecessor, in that case Jimmy Carter, for the unveiling ceremony.

NBC News reported:
It's been a White House tradition for decades: A first-term president hosts a ceremony in the East Room for the unveiling of the official portrait of his immediate predecessor that will hang in the halls of the White House for posterity.
Republican presidents have done it for Democratic presidents, and vice versa — even when one of them ascended to the White House by defeating or sharply criticizing the other.
“We may have our differences politically, but the presidency transcends those differences,” Obama said in 2012 when he hosted George W. Bush for the latter’s portrait unveiling.
Then again, Bush didn’t put spies in Obama’s campaign, frame his incoming national security adviser, cause a special counsel investigation, indict and jail his campaign manager, or put his longtime personal attorney and friends behind bars using prosecutors who were bona fide Republican donors.
Bush didn’t politicize and then weaponize the FBI and intelligence community against Obama like Obama did to Trump. No one in Bush’s Justice Department used a fabricated ‘dossier’ to defraud the FISA court to get illegal surveillance warrants on Obama’s people, nor did Bush falsely accuse the then-Illinois senator of being a Manchurian candidate for Moscow.
Of course, NBC News isn’t playing it that way:
Trump is unconcerned about shunning yet another presidential custom, and he has attacked Obama to an extent no other president has done to a predecessor. Most recently he's made unfounded accusations that Obama committed an unspecified crime.

In fact, Trump’s “Obamagate” reference to the spying and undermining operation against him, his 2016 campaign, and his administration isn’t so much blaming Obama of committing any crimes, but rather the dupes who served him.
Because it’s not suddenly okay to break espionage laws in the pursuit of political power. Unless, of course, you’re a Left-wing media outlet and a Democratic administration is committing the violations.
We don’t have any doubt that Trump isn’t going to lose a minute’s worth of sleep knowing that Obama’s ‘shunning this tradition.’ He might even be happy about not having to see Obama and then pretend like nothing happened — like an impeachment.
But what this proves more than anything is that Obama is not only a master at corruption, he’s an abject coward as well.
