Pelosi Speaks Out on Whether Or Not She Will Support Bernie Sanders in 2020

After leaving a meeting on Wednesday on Capitol Hill, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi confirmed that she would be totally fine with a Bernie Sanders presidency if he were to win the Democratic primary nomination.

"Yes," she said after she was asked if she would support Sanders.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer also recently confirmed that he would be fine with supporting the socialist senator in 2020.

“Look, the bottom line is very simple. We have a lot of strong nominees… I’m not supporting one over the other, but I think every one of them will beat President Trump,” Schumer said after he was asked about Sanders’ support for communist dictator Fidel Castro's literacy programs.

Sanders has been under major fire for continuously voicing his support for communist regimes and dictators.

On Tuesday evening during the Democratic debate hosted by CBS, Sanders once again defended Communist regimes arguing that good things can happen when being controlled by a dictator.

“On this issue of the potential political peril you and Democrats could suffer in Florida, Congresswoman Donna Shalala said come on down to Miami and meet with the people who have been affected by his regime,” CBS News’ Ed O’Keefe stated. “Would you be willing to do that?”

“Cuba is a dictatorship, I’ve said that 8 million times,” Sanders stated. “But that does not mean to say, as Obama pointed out, that even under a dictatorship you can teach people to read and to write. That you can provide health care to all people.”

Earlier in the week during an interview with Anderson Cooper on "60 Minutes" Sanders praised Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.

The comments came when Cooper asked Sanders about comments he had made in the 1980s when he praised Castro. Sanders made it clear that his feelings towards the communist dictator had not changed.

"We're very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba," Sanders said to Cooper. "But it's unfair to say that everything is bad."

Sanders then continued by showing Castro with his praises: "When Fidel Castro came into office, you know what he did? He had a massive literacy program. Is that a bad thing even though Fidel Castro did it?"

During a separate town hall event with CNN, Sanders sang a similar tune by not only praising communist Cuba, but praising communist China as well.

“I will take one more step down the road from the stigma from some of your fellow Democrats,” CNN’s Chris Cuomo said at the event. “You said on 60 Minutes this weekend, ‘It is unfair to say that everything is bad with the way that Fidel Castro ruled in Cuba.’

“Now, Democratic members of Congress who represent Cuban Americans in Florida, obviously you got to win there, they’re attacking your comment as absolutely unacceptable, singing the praises of a murderous tyrant,” Cuomo added. “Response?”

“The response was, when Fidel Castro first came to power … he initiated a major literacy program,” Sanders claimed. “There was a lot of folks in Cuba at that point who were illiterate. He formed a literacy brigade, they went out and helped people learn to read and write. You know what? I think teaching people to read and write is a good thing.”

Sanders continue by praising communist China who has killed 45 million of their own people.

“China is an authoritarian country becoming more and more authoritarian. But can anyone deny, I mean the facts are clear, that they have taken more people out of extreme poverty than any country in history,” Sanders continued. “Do I get criticized because I say that? It’s the truth. So that is the fact, end of discussion.”
