REVEALED: Nearly 500 NYPD Officers Injured Since May in Anti-Police Protests

Left-wing riots, looting, and other ‘peaceful protests’ have taken a huge toll on America’s police officers over the summer, especially in New York City.
Thanks to the incompetence of Mayor Bill de Blasio and the politicization of criminal justice by Marxist prosecutors, assaults against NYPD officers have skyrocketed, as has crime: Nearly 500 officers have been injured, some very seriously, since Black Lives Matter and other George Soros-aligned groups took advantage of what happened to George Floyd in Minneapolis to launch a full-scale counter-cultural revolution.
More than 470 New York City police officers have been injured in the line of duty due to anti-police protests since May of this year, according to data through September 24 from the department and the New York Post.
Black Lives Matter protests, sparked across the nation after the death of George Floyd, sent thousands of people flooding the streets of major American cities, including one of the largest, New York City.
Officials from the department have stated that officers have been on the receiving end of Molotov cocktails, shot at, stabbed, hit with rocks and bricks, and hit by vehicles.
And again, the vast majority of these injuries were more than just a little serious.
Of the 472 reported, 319 of them required medical attention at a hospital. Seven of those were admitted, including Lt. Richard Mack, who was beaten severely while trying to make an arrest on the Brooklyn Bridge in July.
“This behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” NYPD spokeswoman Sgt. Mary Frances O’Donnell said in a statement to the New York Post.
This hasn't been a good year for the NYPD in general. So far in 2020 -- a year most Americans would love to forget and can't wait to get in front of -- 7,528 line-of-duty injuries were reported thus far, which is up by 47 percent over the 5,133 injuries reported last year.
“The average person doesn’t hear about the daily assaults and injuries to police officers,” said NYPD Sgt. Joseph Imperatrice, the founder of Blue Lives Matter NYC. “Officers are hurt every single day whether in regards to being assigned to routine patrol or a riot location.”
Patrick Lynch, who heads up the Police Benevolent Association, has blasted city officials who are essentially “encouraging” the violence and not supporting the police by handcuffing cops with restrictive policies and letting rioters go.
“The chaos that politicians are encouraging on the streets is putting cops in the hospital,” Lynch said. “It is not just the nearly 500 cops who have been hit with bricks and bottles or otherwise injured during supposedly ‘peaceful’ protests.”
“Hundreds more are being injured because criminals are emboldened to fight cops the moment we step on the scene,” Lynch added. “They know our hands are tied. Every New Yorker needs to ask their elected officials how cops can protect them when we can barely protect ourselves.”
The ‘thin blue line’ really is thin. If it breaks, civil society breaks with it – and believe us, the “defund the police” types who think all cops are bad will really recoil at the way the Trump administration restores it.
