Seattle PD Union Leader Warns 'Defund Police' Effort Coming to a Neighborhood Near You

There are increasing signs in big cities around the country that we’re about to lose control of them and witness mass outbreaks of anarchy on a near-Biblical scale.
Aside from the fact that not a day goes by when destruction and chaos lovingly characterized as “peaceful protests” by the adoring Leftist media isn’t plastered all over social media, but now, the leaders of police unions everywhere are warning of the coming storm.
And for added benefit, they have identified the enemy: Anti-democratic socialism.
In an interview with Fox News, Seattle Police Officers Guild President Michael Solan blasted the “socialists” on the city council who are pushing to defund his department by 50 percent or more, and this in the wake of CHOP – the failed ‘utopian’ Marxist no-cop zone that devolved into a cauldron of violence within weeks.
"It's absolutely a travesty" what the city council is doing -- to the department, sure, but also to the city and its taxpaying residents, few of whom have ever been to lawless places like Mogadishu and Bagram.
"If our reasonable community across this city, our state, and more importantly, our nation don't wake up ... crime will rise significantly, and over half, if not more, of the police jobs in our city will be eviscerated," he added.
And then, good luck recruiting enough new officers to refill the ranks once the experiment with chaos fails, as it most assuredly will.
Then Solan issued this warning: "This is coming into your neighborhood if we don't wake up and stop this socialist threat immediately."
He could have been talking about Seattle, but more than likely, he was referencing about cities everywhere Marxist-Leftist Democrats elect to do the same thing: Defund police and ferret the money out to unarmed ‘community officers’ who are likely to be pummeled and killed as lawlessness increases.
Fox News adds:
The Seattle Times reported Thursday that three council members have thrown their support behind Decriminalize Seattle and King County Equity Now. The paper described Decriminalize Seattle as a coalition inspired by the Black Lives Matter protests that seek police defunding and major reforms aimed at ending systemic racism.
The Times said seven out of the council's nine members support defunding police. The department’s budget is currently $409 million.
With that veto-proof majority, Democrat Mayor Jenny Durkan can’t stop the measure from passing even if she wanted to. And since she’s also a committed Leftist, there’s no indication that she would even try.
"All they have shown us is that they want to reduce the budget by 50 percent. I haven't seen any real planning in that. And, the real tragedy of doing that is that we will lose 1,100 employees," Police Chief Carmen Best noted.
Well, sure, there’s that. The ‘loss of jobs’ angle is important for a police chief.
But the more ominous ramification of losing half the police force is what effect that will have on crime. As in, how high the crime rate will spike.
