Ted Cruz Gives Trump Dire Warning About 2020 Election

While speaking to a reporter during a breakfast on Thursday, Republican Senator Ted Cruz gave President Donald Trump a dire warning by saying that he would lose re-election in 2020 if he decides to make a deal with Democrats on gun control.
“If Republicans abandon the Second Amendment and demoralize millions of Americans who care deeply about Second Amendment rights,” the Senator said, “that could go a long way to electing a President Elizabeth Warren.”
“We’re going to see record-setting Democratic turnout. The only element missing is demoralizing conservatives so they stay home. I hope we don’t do that,” Cruz added.
Check out what Roll Call reported:
He was responding to a question that specifically referenced a possible deal between the Trump administration and a bipartisan group of senators including Democrats Christopher S. Murphy of Connecticut and Joe Manchin III of West Virginia, as well as Republican Patrick J. Toomey of Pennsylvania.
Those senators spoke with Trump on Wednesday and signaled that the president was nearing an announcement of his position on background checks for gun purchases.
“It would also be a serious mistake as a policy matter,” Cruz added, noting that the Democrats would push for gun control measures even if there were no recent mass shootings.
“The far left is pissed off,” Cruz said on Thursday. “They hate the the president, and that is a powerful motivator.”
Cruz then discussed his senatorial re-election when he ran against Beto O’Rourke, which saw a growing number of Democratic voter turn out.
“The Texas Senate race ended up being the most expensive Senate race in U.S. history, and I think that foreshadows what 2020 will be nationally,” Cruz said.
Cruz does have a point. Far-left candidates are gaining support as they go as far to promote gun confiscation, a direct violation of the second amendment.
During the third round of Democratic debates, O'Rourke announced his plans regarding gun confiscation if elected President.
"Some on this stage have suggested a voluntary buyback for guns in this country," ABC News host David Muir said.
Muir asked: "You have gone further. You said, quote, 'Americans who own AR-15s and AK-47s will have to sell them to the government, all of them.' You know the critics call this confiscation. Are you proposing taking away their guns and how would this work?"
O'Rourke announced that as president, he would take away guns that he described as "designed to kill people on a battlefield."
"I am, if it is a weapon that was designed to kill people on a battlefield," O'Rourke said. "If the high impact high velocity round, when it hits your body, shreds everything inside of your body because it was designed to do that so that you would bleed to death on a battlefield and not be able to get up and kill one of our soldiers. When we see that being used against children and in Odessa. I met the mother of a 15-year-old girl who was shot by an AR-15. And that mother watched her bleed to death over the course of an hour because so many other people were shot by that AR-15 in Odessa and Midland [that] there weren't enough ambulances to get to them in time."
"Hell yes we are going to take your AR-15, your AK-47," he said. "We are not going to allow it to be used against fellow Americans anymore."
