Trump Allies Pressing for Michael Flynn to Return to Campaign Trail

Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, who was forced to confess to a crime he didn’t commit after being set up by Barack Obama and James Comey, is once again urgently needed: On the 2020 Trump reelection campaign trail.
That’s according to several insiders who say the former DIA director and retired U.S. Army lieutenant general could once again help reignite President Donald Trump’s base as a powerful reminder of why the deep state must be dismantled.
Now, after a prolonged battle against what Trump’s biggest supporters see as a rigged judicial system staffed by Obama-era bureaucrats, Flynn’s status as a deep state-fighting warrior has only grown. And with Flynn on the verge of potentially having criminal charges dismissed altogether, Trump allies are pushing the campaign to give Flynn the ultimate comeback: hitting the campaign trail for the president, according to nine people inside or close to the Trump campaign.
"Great surrogate — lots of people would come to see him,” said former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a Trump ally. “He’s the perfect example of deep state victimization. Pretty powerful.”
No doubt. Flynn was railroaded into confessing that he ‘lied’ to the FBI over a conversation he had with the then-Russian ambassador to the United States – discussions that were perfectly harmless and normal for an incoming national security adviser.
After being caught up in a perjury trap, Flynn said he confessed to the alleged lie after then-special counsel Robert Mueller’s mobster ‘prosecutors’ threatened to trump up charges against his son, a partner in Flynn’s then-international consulting firm.
Politico noted that three people affiliated with the Trump reelection campaign said they would welcome Flynn back with open arms, though the campaign’s official spokesman, Tim Murtaugh, would not officially confirm he Flynn is headed back to the fold.
“Interesting suggestion. General Flynn is a great American,” Murtaugh told the outlet.
President Trump has already brought back some loyalists from his 2016 campaign. But none of them would be nearly as powerful as Flynn, who was mistreated and abused by the deep state Obama was leading at the time like no other Army general with 30-plus years of loyal service.
Right now, though, Flynn remains in limbo of sorts. After taking the unusual step of refusing to honor a Justice Department request to drop its case against Flynn following the disclosure of exculpatory evidence hidden from the court, U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan is taking the usual step of asking the entire D.C. Circuit Court to review the appeals panel’s ruling ordering him to dismiss the case.
As for the president, he already seems like he’s on board with a Flynn reprisal.
"As far as Gen. Flynn, he’s a great hero, he’s a great gentleman,” he told Sean Hannity on Fox News on Thursday night. “What they’re doing to that man, they destroyed that man, but he’ll come back. He’s going to come back.”
Others warn Flynn would ignite another controversy at a time when the president is supposedly behind Joe Biden. But frankly, given this president’s ‘in-your-face’ political style, we can’t think of a better thing for him to do to re-energize his base.
