Trump Jabs "Confused MESS" Drudge As Readers Abandon Iconic Site In Droves

Once the top resource for conservatives looking for the real scoop, the Drudge Report has become just one more propaganda megaphone for those seeking to deny President Trump a second term.

In a radical shift that stunned longtime readers, the site began to feature links to stories that were highly critical of President Trump who the reclusive proprietor Matt Drudge was solidly behind in 2016.

But things change and so has Drudge with his hugely popular news aggregator becoming practically indistinguishable from the mainstream media but it is clear that the Drudge Report may as well be on the payroll of the Harris-Biden Campaign.

But it is costing dearly in terms of lost readership and President Trump himself pointed that out in a blistering tweet, referring to Drudge as a "confused Mess" who has no clue to what happened regarding the ongoing exodus.

Via Yahoo Entertainment, "Trump Slams Drudge Report and Its Founder: ‘Our People Have All Left’":

President Donald Trump renewed his attacks on Matt Drudge, the longtime political commentator and editor of the news aggregator Drudge Report, over the weekend and into Monday.

Remarking on a post that said the Drudge Report had seen a “historic crash,” the president wrote on Twitter Sunday, “Such an honor! Drudge is down 40% plus since he became Fake News. Most importantly, he’s bleeding profusely, and is no longer “hot”. But others are! Lost ALL Trumpers.”

Trump continued his attacks on Monday writing, “Our people have all left Drudge. He is a confused MESS, has no clue what happened. Down 51%. @DRUDGE They like REVOLVER and others!”

The figure from the Sunday tweet is accurate: According to Comscore data provided by TheRighting, which tracks traffic to conservative news sites, the Drudge Report had 2.399 million unique visitors in July 2019 and 1.488,000 unique visitors in July 2020. That’s a 38% drop year over year. It was not immediately clear to what Trump referred when he said Monday Drudge was “down 51%.”

Trump also tweeted that Drudge has become "Fake News" and that he's "bleeding profusely" and no longer hot.

The president retweeted an exclusive interview from the Thomas Paine podcast where the host interviewed a Drudge "insider" who dropped multiple bombshells on the site's proprietor including a "pay-to-play" scheme which could possibly be a reason for the Drudge Report going full anti-Trump. It could be as simple as money.

According to Paine who wrote the following last December:

November brought an additional loss of almost 12 percent in web visitors to the embattled news site.

The loss of readers for Drudge since Septemeber is staggering. Drudge’s overall web traffic was down nearly 18 percent in September and October 2019, according to the tracking metrics on Similar Web. That massive and accelerated slide went from approximately 93 million visits to 77 million.

News consumers here have clearly spoken and Drudge appears to be in serious trouble with these numbers. He is bleeding former loyalists and often, regaining them is an elusive and expensive task.

Obviously. Drudge — if he is even still running the site himself at this point — remains uninterested in slowing the bleeding. And the site isn’t just bleeding out, it is hemorrhaging.

The bleeding continues and isn't going to stop as Drudge or whoever currently owns the site that rose to prominence by breaking the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky sex scandal is following the NFL's model of how to destroy a brand.

Unlike Drudge, you will always get the REAL scoop here at Trending Politics.
