What do Fox News superstar Tucker Carlson and the NBA have in common? Nothing, and includes television viewership ratings.
According to the most recent figures from the past week, Carlson is continuing to rake in viewers night after night, scoring in the high 3 million-plus and topping 4 million at least once earlier this week.
Meanwhile, the Black Lives Matter league, otherwise known as the NBA, has seen its popularity crater, with moribund ratings and a far-less-than-stellar re-opening.
In fact, when comparing the two, Carlson’s ratings were four times higher last week at certain points than the NBA’s bleak viewership.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson continues to smash records and dwarf the competition in the ratings, pulling in four times as many ratings as the top sports broadcasts in the country.
After months of delay and inactivity, professional sports have returned to the United States, but ratings are lagging well behind. Coincidentally, NASCAR, MLB, and the NBA have all launched aggressive pro-Black Lives Matter campaigns, with players and coaches lecturing fans on the importance of promoting critical race [theory].
Smart TV service provider Roku noted this week that “the majority of Roku homes that had previously watched at least 30 minutes of professional baseball, basketball or hockey on traditional cable TV in 2019 did not tune in to watch the opening weekends of the MLB, NBA or NHL this year.”
67% of households that watched the NBA in 2019 did not tune in to watch the opening week, and 40% of superfans who normally watched every game available on TV did not tune in to a single minute of basketball during the entire first week.
Meanwhile, Carlson’s ratings are through the roof (as are most Fox News primetime shows).
“Tucker Carlson’s TV ratings continue to dominate the NBA. His Thursday night show had 3.65 million viewers. Two NBA primetime Thursday games COMBINED for only 2.6 million viewers. It’s a ratings massacre. The NBA can’t touch Tucker,” noted The Daily Caller’s David Hookstead.
[Full disclosure: Carlson helped found The Daily Caller.]
“Tucker Carlson continues to destroy the NBA’s TV ratings. His Tuesday night show had more than 4.1 million viewers. The most watched NBA game of the day had less than a million viewers. It’s getting embarrassing for the NBA at this point. The numbers aren’t even close,” he added.
Yes, and other professional sports leagues as well, all of which have adopted Marxist BLM messaging without understanding that not all of their fan base is into Marxist political-cultural revolution – which is what the Black Lives Matter movement is really about.
But don’t take my word for it. BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors admitted as much in a recently surfaced video originally dug up by the excellent staffers at the Mark Levin show.
“The first thing, I think, is that we actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia, in particular, are trained organizers,” she said, referring to BLM co-founder Alicia Garza.
“We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories. And I think that what we really tried to do is build a movement that could be utilized by many, many black folk,” Cullors added in the interview with Jared Ball of The Real News Network.
