One of modern history’s greatest appeasers was British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain.
As Adolph Hitler’s Nazi armies ravaged and absorbed one European country after another in the lead up to World War II, Chamberlain met with Hitler in Munich, Germany, in 1938 along with representatives from France and Italy, where he signed an agreement to allow the Nazis to absorb a portion of Czechslovakia Hitler claimed was historically the “Sudetenland.”
The catch: Agreements were signed in 1924 and 1925 by allies victorious over then-Imperial Germany during World War I in which France and Britain would protect Czechoslovakia. The “Munich Agreement” became known as the “Munich Betrayal” because Chamberlain gave in to the powerful German leader.
Upon arrival back in Britain, Chamberlain — who had separately signed a non-aggression pact with Hitler as well — declared on Sept. 30, 1938, there would be “peace for our time.” He had appeased the aggressor and figured the aggressor would stay appeased. Britain had lost 1 million men a generation previous and did not want to lose another million or more in a second world conflict.
On July 10, 1940, however, Hitler broke his word and broke his agreement with Chamberlain and attacked England anyway. The appeasement gamble hadn’t worked.
We see the same kind of Chamberlain mentality taking place now in America, among our elite ‘woke’ corporate CEOs. For the past few years, they have become the 1938 version of England; they have allowed themselves and their companies to be held hostage to the cultural equivalent of Hitler’s Germany: Anarchists and thugs who use threats of, and actual violence, to extort tens of millions of dollars from corporations.
And to no avail, as the Daily Wire notes:
A Target store in Minneapolis that was looted and destroyed during the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots now has murals outside their rebuilt store boasting of Black Lives Matter rioting and arson.
According to a report from AlphaNews, the murals were said by Target to be “temporary,” but as of April 29 they remain outside the building.
“After closing due to damage sustained during the demonstrations for racial justice in late spring, we rebuilt the stores from the ground up in just five months, making them two of the fastest rebuilds in Target history,” Target announced.
“As our teams welcome guests back this week, we’re excited for our communities to not only have a safe, easy and convenient place to shop, but also a place where they feel joy and pride when they visit,” the retailer continued.
“We also made sure we invested in the Lake Street community’s overall rebuild efforts, even while our store was closed, by donating more than $125,000 in food and essential supplies to those in need and committing to 10,000 hours of pro-bono consulting services to Black-, Indigenous- and people-of-color-owned local businesses as they rebuild,” the announcement added.
Will it help? Will all this largess and appeasement stop BLM rioters from destroying Target stores?
Nope. Or any other ‘target store’ of opportunity when the BLM mobs come calling.
“Woke signage won’t save you from the woke mob,” Australian conservative commentator Rita Panahi tweeted last month after riots in another city destroyed more ‘woke’ businesses.

She’s right. Because then and now, there is no appeasing those who exist to be visit violence upon the earth.
