A few days after the approval of a bill in Florida that aims to teach the evils of communism in schools, the state of Arizona joined the initiative with the impulse of the Republican majority in the House of Representatives.

The bill that is waiting for state Senate approval includes requiring teachers to share with stories with of people who fled communism. This requirement is part of the bill 2898, which includes changes in the laws that govern education in the state.

Public schools will be required to teach a comparative discussion of political ideologies, such as communism and totalitarianism, the conflict with the values of freedom and democracy, essential to preserving the founding principles of the United States, according to the text of the project in Arizona; which mimics the documentinitially approved in Florida.

Likewise, like the initiative signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the board of education will have to develop a list of oral history resources that provide patriotism based on first-person accounts of victims of ruling philosophies in other nations; so that they can compare those philosophies with those of the United States.

The purpose of this inclusion in the curriculum is to instill in citizens the responsibility to preserve and defend “the blessings of liberty inherited from previous generations and guaranteed in the Constitution of the United States.”

“The reality is one of the greatest threats facing the globe today is communism and totalitarianism,” saidRepublican Representative Jake Hoffman, “We have governments like the Communist Chinese government that their stated goal is to be the world’s sole and only superpower, and that they will achieve that goal through any means possible.”

This bill also includes a prohibition against teaching that a person’s race, ethnic group or sex determines their moral character or makes them responsible for actions committed by other people in that group.

Just last Wednesday, the governor of Florida signed the Bill HB 5, which will allow students “to learn about the patriots who come to the United States after fleeing communist regimes”, in the words of Ron DeSantis, about being this been one of the largest recipients of migrants from countries such as Cuba and Venezuela.
