Welcome to summer, folks! Trips to the beach, (or public pool considering gas prices), cookouts, lazy days and hot nights!

Many of us are planning fun summer activities, including activities that involve swimsuits. Who amongst us doesn’t look in the mirror and wish we could trim a couple pounds before getting into that Tiger King speedo? Yes, I do in fact have a Tiger King speedo. No, photographic evidence WILL NOT be provided.

Back to my point. We would all like to be a little skinnier, but don’t have the time and energy to diet and exercise. Never fear, Brandon has a plan for you! Check this out from the free Beacon:

More than 70 percent of American adults have made “some changes to personal travel habits,” while more than 10 percent have eliminated “non-essential purchases,” the poll found.

“While some consumers have cut back on some non-essential spending, like dining out and unnecessary travel, others reported much more drastic changes such as skipping meals, conserving water, and eliminating meat from their diets,” according to Provident Bank. “People are feeling an immense amount of financial pressure right now.”

Let’s Go Brandon!

That’s not exactly what I would call the most effective weight loss plan, not being able to afford to eat, but maybe that’s the best Brandon could come up with? I mean, it’s not like he is surrounded by Mensa member in Washington. These are people I wouldn’t trust to run a Taco Bell, no less the country. Considering this administrations disastrous border policy, maybe I should’ve said Burger King instead of Taco Bell? At least they could get a pride Whopper there.

More than half of Americans surveyed said they spend between $101 and $500 per month on groceries, and 32 percent said they are spending hundreds of dollars more on gas. Survey respondents said baby products, meat, utilities, alcohol, household goods, and milk are particularly draining their bank accounts.

Brandon is really knocking it out of the park economically! Which is ironic, because some people might only be able to afford a trip to the public park with the gas prices we are seeing.

My kids are grown. All four of them. I can only imagine what it is like right now to buy groceries for four kids. Kids have to be fed! They are annoying like that.

Ironically, despite my silly premise of skipping meals to lose weight, this economic pressure causes people on tight budgets to skimp and purchase cheaper foods. Cheaper foods are poorer nutritionally, which in turn leads to worse diets and worse health. Thus, one of the unintended byproducts of inflation and this presidency will be a generation of kids that may grow up unhealthier. Cheap food equals fat kids. Sounds harsh, I know, but it’s true.

Inflation is at a 40-year high, causing two-thirds of Americans to dip into their savings to pay for daily needs. Some economists, including former Obama administration officials, have attributed the rise in the cost of goods and services to the Biden administration’s $2 trillion American Rescue Plan. Biden has called for a federal gas tax holiday to relieve financial pressure on Americans, even though members of his own party, including former president Barack Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.), have expressed doubts that the tax suspension would benefit consumers. Obama in 2008 called tax holidays “a gimmick,” the Washington Free Beacon reported.

I can’t believe I am touting anything Barack Obama said, considering he was the worst, most divisive president of my lifetime, pre-Brandon, of course, but here we are wondering how we are going to afford staples like meat, milk and bread, no less gasoline and heat for the coming winter. Tough times.

Let’s go Brandon, indeed.
