BREAKING: Louisville Cop Involved in Breonna Taylor Shooting Indicted

As many expected would happen because police officers have become the new political prisoners in America, a cowardly grand jury in Kentucky has recommended that one of the Louisville officers involved in the death of EMT Breonna Taylor be indicted.

The Washington Examiner reports

The 12 members of the grand jury ruled that there was probable cause to indict former detective Brett Hankison for the death of Taylor, a 26-year-old black woman who was shot and killed by police as they carried out a no-knock warrant on her apartment. Hankison was charged with three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. The court issued a warrant for his arrest and set the bond at $15,000. Louisville Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly and Detective Myles Cosgrove, two officers who were also involved in the shooting, were not charged.

Anyone paying any attention at all to the politicization of police-involved shootings of black Americans over the summer isn’t shocked at all over this development. Taylor is just one of a number of black Americans killed by police in recent years whose deaths have been used to advance a patently anti-American agenda and to push the lie that our country is a putrid den of “systemic racism” when the facts and the figures and the truth refute such nonsensical allegations.

Plus, there were indications as well that fear – yes, fear – may have also played a role in this ruling.

“In preparation for the grand jury's ruling, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer declared an emergency order and closed much of the downtown area out of fear that riots may break out.He also issued a 9 p.m. curfew for the city just before the grand jury's announcement,” the Washington Examiner reported.

“Many protesters had already gathered before the grand jury's announcement despite roadblocks and other barriers that aimed to keep protesters out of the area. Local, state, and federal police officers will be joined by the Kentucky National Guard to secure the city on Wednesday night,” the outlet added.

And of course, this all comes after an armed Black Panther knock-off ‘militia’ called the “Not F**king Around Coalition” threatened to inflict violence and damage on Louisville itself.

For the record, Taylor’s March 13 death, many believe, can rightly be blamed on her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker. Acting on a tip there were drugs in her apartment, the officers conducted a no-knock raid and were fired upon by Walker; one of his shots struck Mattingly in the leg. At that, officers returned fire; five of the 20 shots struck Taylor.

Walker claims that the officers burst into the apartment without announcing themselves as cops, making him believe they were home intruders. But has that been established as fact? No, it hasn’t.

There were other indications that someone was going to be the patsy. Earlier this month, the city of Louisville settled a wrongful death suit with the family of Taylor for $12 million.

It’s not clear, of course, that Hankison is going to be found guilty. But he’ll have to defend himself, at great expense nonetheless, because he is now being punished for doing his job.

And ask yourself this: Will his indictment lead more Americans to pursue law enforcement as a career or drive more good cops out of the field?
