Just moments ago, President Donald Trump announced that Attorney General Bill Barr would be “leaving” effective “just before Christmas.”

“Just had a very nice meeting with Attorney General Bill Barr at the White House. Our relationship has been a very good one, he has done an outstanding job! As per letter, Bill will be leaving just before Christmas to spend the holidays with his family,” the president tweeted.

“Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen, an outstanding person, will become Acting Attorney General,” he continued. “Highly respected Richard Donoghue will be taking over the duties of Deputy Attorney General. Thank you to all!”

The announcement comes at a very odd time considering President Trump is continuing to fight against the 2020 election results as well as the news that Barr allegedly knew about the criminal investigations surrounding Hunter Biden months ago but decided to stay quiet.

The move by President Trump raises the question: What does he have planned for the next month?

Barr’s credibility has come into question after news broke that he pushed to keep the Hunter Biden story a secret.

Check out what the Wall Street Journal reported:

Attorney General William Barr, in the weeks before November’s election, instructed prosecutors and senior colleagues to prevent word of investigations into Hunter Biden from becoming public and keep the Justice Department out of campaign politics, according to people familiar with the matter.

Mr. Barr took more steps than previously reported to insulate the investigations, despite calls from President Trump and Republican allies to announce a probe involving President-elect Joe Biden’s son Hunter.

Mr. Barr and senior department officials relayed the instructions in conversations with prosecutors, questioning whether their staff members could be trusted and warning against issuing subpoenas or taking other steps that might become public, some of the people familiar with the matter said.

The department didn’t respond to an October letter from Republican lawmakers requesting Mr. Barr appoint a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden and his father.

Justice Department guidelines codified in 2012 caution against taking actions close to an election that could be seen as seeking to affect the outcome. Disclosing details of an ongoing investigation into the son of a presidential candidate hit a line Mr. Barr felt would violate that policy and give the appearance of interfering in the election, people close to him said.

The investigations into Hunter Biden spilled into public view last week after Mr. Biden announced his tax affairs were under investigation. Mr. Biden said he has acted legally. The investigations, which began in 2018, don’t implicate Joe Biden, according to people familiar with the matter. The president-elect, who has not directly addressed the investigations, has said he is proud of his son.
