After former President Donald Trump’s first full week out of office, it’s becoming clearer he isn’t simply going to sit on his backside at his Mar-a-Lago home and play golf.

He’s going to remain very active in Republican Party politics, and frankly, that is extremely good news for his legions of supporters.

And while no one but him is certain whether there will be a ‘Make America Great Again’ redux, what seems very clear already is that whoever sits atop the GOP ticket heading into November 2024 will have gotten there thanks to the former president’s blessing.

Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s 2016 campaign manager, has essentially confirmed that.

In a Thursday interview with Fox News, Lewandowski said the former president has told him he intends to remain “very active” in GOP politics moving forward, to include helping to mount primary challenges against the Liz Cheneys who voted to impeach him for an unprecedented second time earlier this month.

What’s more, Trump’s got the money to do it — more than enough, in fact.

“The president continues to have enormous support and approval among Republican primary voters. He continues to have hundreds of millions of dollars in his campaign account, which he can utilize. And he will continue to be actively involved in recruiting candidates and holding elected officials accountable for their votes,” Lewandowski told the network.

He also dismissed earlier reports that Trump wants to break away from the GOP.

“I don’t think the president has any interest in being part of a third party,” he said.

Fox News has more:

Lewandowski spoke with Fox News hours before Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, a top Trump supporter and ally, was scheduled to hold a rally at the state capitol in Wyoming to take aim at Rep. Liz Cheney in her home state. Cheney, the House Republican Conference chair, is facing calls by a majority of House Republicans to be stripped of her number three leadership position. The move comes after she was the most high profile of the 10 Republicans who two weeks ago joined all 222 Democrats in the chamber in voting to impeach Trump on a charge of inciting the Jan. 6 insurrection on the U.S. Capitol.

Asked of there was any coordination between Gaetz’s rally and Trump, Lewandowski was coy. But he was much more specific regarding the fate of Republicans who voted to impeach the president.

“They will all get primary challenges in my opinion,” Lewandowski said. “I don’t know at what level the president’s going to weigh in on each of those races, but I think he will be involved in a number of them.”

As for GOP politics writ large, Trump’s 2020 campaign senior adviser Jason Miller told Fox News on Sunday that the former president has “made clear his goal is to win back the House and Senate for Republicans in 2022.”

Trump’s base of support remains wide, deep, and committed. Republican swamp creatures, beware.
