On Thursday, a Chinese government official suggested that United States officials purposely introduced the coronavirus into Wuhan, China.
“The director of the US Centers for Disease Control was arrested,” said deputy director of China’s Foreign Ministry Information Department, Lijian Zhao.
Zhao was saying that Centers For Disease Control Robert Redfield was arrested however he was not.
The Chinese official continued by accusing the United States of starting the pandemic despite it’s origination in Wuhan, China: “When did Patient Zero appear in the United States? How many people are infected? What is the name of the hospital? It may be that the US military brought the epidemic to Wuhan. America needs to be transparent! The United States owes us an explanation!”

The first case of COVID-19 is believed to have appeared December 2019 in Wuhan, China. The virus has spread since February to 36 other countries and territories and has a global death toll of 3,041, according to the CDC‘s numbers.

Deaths from the virus in China hit 811 on Feb. 9, surpassing the number of patients who died from SARS, China’s National Health Commission noted at the time. China has reported roughly 80,000 cases since February, though the number of cases in the country appears to be declining.
Meanwhile, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the U.S. is growing, with more than 1,000 in 39 states as the World Health Organization declared a global pandemic Wednesday. A global pandemic is defined as a virus that spreads across the world, and declaring an illness as such can have both political and economic consequences.
China found its own way to deal with the initial outbreak. Zhao’s government’s censors reportedly worked to suppress information about the virus as health professionals in the country spread their concern on a Chinese app called WeChat. They even punished officials who discretely warned superiors before it became a pandemic.
China is clearly trying to cover themselves after their Chinese coronavirus infected the entire world. On Thursday, President Trump will sign an executive order that will end medical reliance on China as he will insist on American-made medical supplies.
The President also plans on improving the availability of face masks as well as respirators. Becker’s Hospital Review reports, “as health systems around the country grapple with dwindling supplies of protective N95 face masks, which filter out about 95 percent of all airborne particles.”

“President Trump is focused on the health of the American people, and so his administration has taken action to provide protection to manufacturers that will enable production of millions of additional masks for our healthcare providers,” said a White House memo.
Although details of the executive order are scarce, Sen. Marco Rubio told Fox News that the measure is “a very strong first step toward increasing domestic production by enforcing Buy American requirements for pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, as well as fast-tracking approval” from the Federal Food and Drug Administration for coronavirus tests, treatments, medications, and other assorted needs.
According to the Associated Press, the measure is ultimately going to be put in place to end the overall reliance on China for medical supplies.

“China is a key supplier of drug active ingredients, the chemical components that make drugs work, and finished medicines for the U.S. market,” the Associated Press said. “Those include the active ingredients for antibiotics and pills to treat common chronic conditions such as heart disease.”
