Poor Brian Stelter.
The CNN host of the little-watched (and incredibly misnamed) “Reliable Sources” show had another mini-meltdown on the air Sunday because the “right wing media” actually paid attention to the fact that the Justice Department decided to drop its case against President Donald Trump’s first national security adviser, Michael Flynn.
You know, the guy who was targeted by President Obama, James Comey, and Peter Strzok — setup with a bogus charge of lying to federal agents and then threatened with a similarly bogus prosecution of his son if Flynn refused to plead guilty?
That’s what we call a “news story” in the world of journalism. Because that kind of stuff doesn’t happen every day.
Then again, if you work for a Left-wing hack network like CNN and you just spent the past three years lying about ‘Trump-Russia collusion,’ and all of the plots and subplots associated with the hoax, to include Michael Flynn’s setup, you’d want to avert the gaze of your dwindling number of viewers from that scandal to something else.
Like coronavirus deaths, right? Because that’s not something everyone’s been covering wall-to-wall for weeks, is it? Especially over at garbage networks like CNN.
But back to Stelter.
“It’s so disappointing to look at what we’re seeing from right-wing media these days, there’s such an obsession with the deep state and these revelations about the Russia probe and the decision about Michael Flynn,” he said as he began his hissy fit.
Stelter whined that coverage of Flynn isn’t nearly as important as covering the number of deaths from the coronavirus, which he says is equal to the “New Orleans floods every day” or “like the planes go into the [twin] towers every day.”
No, we wouldn’t want to focus on that massive Obama administration scandal and incredible lawbreaking, because that would mean admitting the years of bogus coverage of Russiagate … was bogus.
“They’re treating the Michael Flynn story like it’s a bigger deal than it is the deaths of 2,000 Americans a day … When the president called in to ‘Fox and Friends’ … Friday morning, right before the unemployment rate numbers came out, he talked about the Flynn case for 20 minutes before he was asked about the pandemic,” Stelter noted, adding that he didn’t believe “any political scandal, any Department of Justice story” was more important “than the pandemic that’s raging.”
“Look, ultimately it’s about news judgment, it’s about lack of judgment — but I find it befuddling that some people are acting like this death toll is just normal, and accepted, and common, just another day now. Imagine if 1,000 to 2,000 Americans were dying every day from terror attacks? Imagine the president’s response?”
Well, sure, the president would most certainly be ‘responding’ to daily terror attacks killing thousands of Americans. Is Stelter somehow implying that the president’s responses would be inappropriate if that were occurring?
And while we’re on the subject, what would Mr. ‘Reliable Sources’ have the president do now, in regards to his ongoing coronavirus responses, that he hasn’t already done?
Is he saying Trump hasn’t done enough?
Maybe Trump should order patients infected with coronavirus into nursing homes like Stelter’s buddy and political soulmate, NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo did. How’d that be for a body count, Brian? Good enough?
Idiot. But it’s why he’s on CNN.
The fact is, the Flynn story was massive news. But because Stelter is a Democrat Party hack and not a real journalist, he can’t recognize that. That, and his network was so wrong so often about Flynn and the ‘Russia’ thing.
But he wants to talk about ‘news judgment’ or the lack thereof; how else do we cover the ‘latest coronavirus death count’ other than how it’s been covered? What else about it is new that Americans don’t already know? It’s a virus, it’s killing mostly older people, and it’s not the planetary destroyer we were told it was.
Got it.
By the way, isn’t exposing government corruption kinda, sorta what our founders expected a free press to do?
Stelter is doomed to be nothing more than just another second-rate, little-watched political hack on a network that long ago ceased to be anything more than DemocraTV. Trouble is, he’ll never realize it until it’s too late and his career is over.
Wait. Maybe it already is.
