Democrats might have more than a few screws loose when it comes to their ideology, but one area where they seem to have at least a dime-sized portion of common sense is when it comes to President Joe Biden. With incredibly grim approval ratings that have been circling the bottom of the drain for a long time, many Democrats are now viewing the president as political poison as the midterm elections continue to draw close.

A brand new poll that came out last Wednesday revealed that Biden’s approval rating dropped to 38 percent. To say this is bad is an understatement. It’s atrocious. We’re talking pond scum has a better approval rating than the current president.

According to Just the News, Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes has decided that the number is so bad he needs to put some distance between himself and the president. If he wants to have any sort of chance at winning his own race.

Barnes is running against incumbent GOP Sen. Ron Johnson. Barnes’ campaign said he has three other campaign stops on Labor Day, Sept. 5, which is the day of Biden’s visit,” the report said.

“The Lt. Governor is excited to participate in Laborfest events throughout Milwaukee, Madison and Racine,” spokeswoman Maddy McDaniel went on to say. “His priority is talking to Wisconsin voters and supporting the labor movement that gave his family a ticket to the middle class.”

Back in July, Rep. Tim Ryan, who is the Democratic nominee for Senate in the state of Ohio, also dodged an event featuring President Biden. Who can blame them? Not only does he have a horrific approval rating, but he, in his own words, is a “gaffe machine.” That’s not what Democrats want to be associated with so close to the election.

“We have no interest in them or any other out-of-state surrogates,” Ryan’s spokesperson remarked, according to a report from the New York Times. “I don’t think that’s going to change anytime soon.”

However, the distancing by Democrats has gone far, far beyond just missing events and gone for a deep dive into policy matters.

Nevada Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto has publicly opposed Biden’s student debt forgiveness program, which he implemented unilaterally,” Just the News reported.

“We should be focusing on passing my legislation to expand Pell Grants for lower income students, target loan forgiveness to those in need, and actually make college more affordable for working families,” she went on to say.

Ryan also had a similar view concerning the infamous debt forgiveness plan Biden revealed just a few weeks ago.

“As someone who’s paying off my own family’s student loans, I know the costs of higher education are too high,” Ryan revealed in a statement. “And while there’s no doubt that a college education should be about opening opportunities, waiving debt for those already on a trajectory to financial security sends the wrong message to the millions of Ohioans without a degree working just as hard to make ends meet.”

Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur of Ohio put out an ad back in August that slammed Biden’s policies. You know the left is desperate when they start eating each other like this. This is pretty harsh. However, it’s probably too little, too late.

“Joe Biden is letting Ohio solar manufacturers be undercut by China, but Marcy Kaptur is fighting back,” the narration for the ad said.
