During day 1 of the Democratic National Convention, many democratic leaders stepped up to talk about what we can call “their truth.” Some made interesting remarks, when they spoke of the protesters, using the word “peaceful” to describe the demonstrations that have inflicted the nation for weeks, have resulted in the death of numerous civilians and police officers, and have caused millions of dollars in property damage.

Also interesting was Andrew Cuomo’s use of the word “beautiful.” The governor of New York used the word “beautiful” to describe the way his own state had responded to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Watch below:

Governor Cuomo noted that New York had gone from one of the highest infection rates around the globe to one of the lowest.

For all the pain and tears, our way worked. And it was beautiful,” he said

New York has in fact had a sharp decline of cases since its highest peak in April when daily new cases reached an average of 10,824. However, cases have started going up again in August.

Newsweek reports:

The state’s three-day moving average of daily new infections was reported to be statistically on an upward trend within a 14-day period from August 15.

New York’s death toll of 32,846 accounts for nearly a fifth (over 19.2 percent) of the country’s total death count of 170,497, according to data compiled by JHU. This equates to nearly one in five COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. being reported in New York.

So far in the United States, New York has the highest death toll in the country.

While Cuomo was praising his state’s response (and his own response), he also slammed the Federal Government’s response. Calling it dysfunctional and incompetent, the governor said “As they proved their way failed, we proved our way succeeded.”

One has to wonder if perhaps Cuomo had thought of a better use of the ship sent by the Federal government, perhaps he could have saved thousands of lives, and perhaps he could have avoided sending the sick to NY nursing homes, a place for the most vulnerable.
