Don Lemon Melts Down Over Trump Briefings; Incites CNN Viewers To Get “Mad As Hell”

If you’ve ever heard the phrase, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not gonna take it anymore,” but never knew its origin, the line was immortalized in the 1976 cult classic film “Network.”

Starring William Holden, Faye Dunaway, Robert Duvall, and Peter Finch, among others, , the movie bears a striking resemblance to today’s hyper-politicized Leftist mainstream news media, where networks compete for viewers by trying to out-outrage the other.

In the case of Network, Finch’s character, Howard Beale, becomes obsessed and deranged, and the news executives who employ him exploit that for ratings and profit. At one point in the film, Beale implores viewers to go to their windows and yell the now-iconic line: “I’m mad as hell and I’m not gonna take it anymore!”

I saw the movie when it first came out (dating myself, yes) and thought it was fantastic back then.

In any event, little-watched host Don Lemon on little-watched network CNN invoked the famous line during his nightly trashing of President Trump in what has become his ‘outrage of the day’ format.

As The Daily Caller noted:

CNN’s Don Lemon bashed President Donald Trump and began to channel the fictional character Howard Beale from the 1976 film “Network” during a Monday evening broadcast.

Lemon criticized Trump for the president’s sometimes vitriolic condemnations on the press and for “taking time to argue with reporters and air his grievances” during press briefings. The CNN host showed part of an argument between Trump and Fox News’ Kristin Fisher, as well as ABC News’ Jonathan Karl, and then began to compare himself to Beale.

“I have to be honest with you,” Lemon said. “For the last couple of weeks, when I walk into this building and I get in front of this camera, I swear I feel like I’m in the movie ‘Network.’ I feel like Howard Beale. Americans are mad as hell. What are you going to — how much more can Americans take?”

“Americans, are you mad as hell? How much more are you going to take?” Lemon intoned.

If the man had an audience, his admonition would have had more effect, of course. But since he doesn’t, it’s left to us and a few others to report on his madness and worsening Trump Derangement Syndrome.

“Did you ever think you’d hear the President of the United States react that way?” Lemon said after airing a clip showing some of the president’s comments to members of the press. “Ever? I know some of you think it’s cute. It’s not. It’s sad. It’s sad.”

Frankly, there are those of us who find the president’s treatment of the press refreshing, entertaining, and long overdue.

The president treats members of the press as they treat him — no better, and no worse — but the difference is the perfumed princes and princesses of the Washington Press Corps are not accustomed to having their own boorish, inappropriate behavior thrown back at them.

And let’s recall that many of these same news outlets lied for years about “Trump-Russia collusion,” never bothering after the first several months of bogus reporting to question the veracity of their Deep State sources or, more appropriately, their penchant to simply believe the lies they were being fed.

Don Lemon was one of those media propagandists. He and the guests he brought on-air with him throughout the ordeal — from the baseless accusations of ‘collusion’ throughout the Robert Mueller witch hunt and even since — have consistently been wrong about this president and the things he is alleged to have done. And not once has he admitted it. Instead, he keeps doubling down on the lies.

If there has been disgraceful conduct regarding Trump’s interactions and dealings with the ‘mainstream’ media since he’s been president, it’s not coming from him, it’s coming from mainstream media hacks like Don Lemon.
