Several reports in the past week have exposed just how bad the border crisis is under Joe Biden — and it is worse than most people may have thought.
During an interview on Fox News, Texas GOP Rep. Chip Roy said the Biden administration is contributing to the border crisis and has turned the Department of Homeland Security into “a welcome mat” for illegal immigrants.
“There’s one thing that’s changed in the last couple of months, and it’s the incoming Biden administration,” he said.
“They’re at capacity as of tonight,” Roy said of the facility, which he explained was replete with migrant children who have COVID-19.
“This is all the result of a wide-open borders policy by the Biden administration, failure to finish the fence, but most importantly, they’re basically turning DHS into a welcome mat. And they’re just encouraging more dangerous journeys for kids,” he continued.
“Americans are in danger, immigrants are in danger, and it’s the Biden administration’s fault, all for crass political purposes,” Roy said.
Host Harris Faulkner then cited a report that the Biden administration has authorized the Federal Emergency Management Agency is getting involved at the border.
After Harris called it “a disaster,” Roy responded:
“Harris, you just hit the nail on the head, right? I love how the administration has for weeks been saying there’s no crisis, there’s no emergency. Now they’re going to Midland, Texas, which is miles away from the border, to open up a facility being run by FEMA to be able to deal with the overflow of these kids.”
“This facility’s going to be full,” Roy said. “Now they got to figure out where to move kids to. And yes, we’ve got a significant number of children and adults who are positive for COVID.”

A new report from CNN on Monday revealed that children detained in an overcrowded government-run tent facility at the US-Mexico border say they haven’t been able to shower for days or contact their parents.
Lawyers from the National Center for Youth Law spoke with about a dozen children in Donna, Texas, this week, according to Leecia Welch, the center’s senior director of advocacy and child welfare.
The children were terrified, crying and worried about not being able to speak with family members, Welch said. Some said they hadn’t seen sunlight in days. Others said if they were lucky, they would go outside for 20 minutes every few days.
The allegations, first reported by The Associated Press and CBS News, come as concerns mount over the growing number of children in Customs and Border Protection (CBP) custody. Earlier this week, CNN reported that there were more than 3,700 unaccompanied migrant children in the agency’s custody — a record high.
Some children get to shower about once a week and sometimes soap runs out, with only shampoo available, she said. One child told Welch she hadn’t showered in six days.
Things are so bad that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is asking DHS staff to “volunteer” to help deal with what he conceded was an “overwhelming” number of migrants at the border.
Imagine how bad things could be in two months or even a year from now.
