Graham Backtracks, Joins Romney In Supporting Dems Plan For Witnesses

Amazing how quickly the tide changes with politicians in the D.C. swamp.
Just a few weeks ago, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham said he wanted to quickly finish the impeachment trial and acquit President Donald Trump, telling the Senate to “end this crap quickly as quickly as possible.”
But now, Graham is singing a different tune in the wake of leaks from the book of former national security adviser John Bolton.
"If there is a desire and decision by the Senate to call Democratic witnesses,” Graham tweeted. “Then at a minimum the Senate should allow President [Trump] to call all relevant witnesses he has requested.”
That's a far cry from ending impeachment “as quickly as possible.”
The leak from Bolton’s book is rattling GOP senators, with several now being more inclined to call in witnesses, like Sens. Mitt Romney and Susan Collins.
“I think it’s very likely I’ll be in favor of witnesses, but I haven’t made a decision finally yet, and I won’t until the testimony is completed,” Romney said, according to the Washington Examiner.
Trump's team argues that agreeing to Democrats requests for witnesses will only prolong the witch hunt and drag it out -- which is what liberals wants.
Republicans control a 53-47 majority in the upper chamber. To impeach and remove him from office, Democrats need 67 total votes.
That means all 47 Democrats and 20 Republicans would need to vote in favor of convicting Trump and having him removed from office.
That is never going to happen.
Graham should go back to how he felt weeks ago and not allow the Democrats to call the shots in the Senate.
