Not one to hide his leftist political beliefs, the aging lead man for the band Green Day announced “f**k America” to an audience in the United Kingdom after the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade judgment.
Billie Joe Armstrong, 50, added that he would renounce his U.S. citizenship over the Supreme Court decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health case, and in eloquent fashion enlightened the rapt crowd with “There’s too much f***ing stupid in the world.”
The Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade ignited violent protests across the country. This comes on the heels of abortion activists protesting outside the homes of some of the conservative Justices after the draft opinion leak in May. Groups of abortion activists continued to protest outside the Supreme Court after the decision was announced, many holding signs reading “my body my choice,” “I don’t regret my abortion,” and “abortion saves lives,” as reported by Breitbart.
Armstong, the man behind the album and musical “American Idiot” thought the concert where he came to perform was the appropriate venue to opine over the SCOTUS decision and seemed to suggest that he would move to the U.K. as the United States of America is “lost”:
“Oh, I’m not kidding, you’re going to get a lot of me in the coming days,” The Daily Mail reported Armstrong as saying to the London crowd.
He echoed his thoughts to a crowd at his show in Huddersfield, England the following night, where he shouted “f**k the Supreme Court of America,” according to concertgoers. Armstrong then played the song “American Idiot”, which was written out of anger about not being represented by national leadership, according to earlier comments the band had made.

The high court pushed the question of abortion back to the states where legislatures elected by the people will determine whether the practice should be legalized. Thirteen U.S. states had already passed “trigger laws” to outlaw abortion should Roe v. Wade be overturned. Other states are expected to join these states in outlawing the practice or severely restricting when a woman can terminate a pregnancy.
Abortion is legal in the United Kingdom, however, there are several restrictions on having a licensed medical professional perform it but only after two other doctors have signed off on it.
Armstrong has not been shy about his political leanings over the years, or his predilection for using profanities.
In a 2016 interview, he claimed that then-presidential candidate Donald Trump was another Adolf Hitler, according to Breitbart.
In the interview with British weekly rock magazine Kerrang!, Armstrong brought up the 2016 presidential race, calling out not only Trump but also his millions of supporters who buoyed him not only to win the GOP nomination but eventually the presidency, before referring to Trump as “f*cking Hitler” :
“The worst problem I see about Trump is who his followers are,” Armstrong told the magazine. “I actually feel bad for them, because they’re poor, working-class people who can’t get a leg up. They’re pissed off and he’s preyed on their anger. He just said, ‘You have no options and I’m the only one, and I’m going to take care of it myself.’ I mean, that’s f*cking Hitler, man!”
No word on whether Armstrong has filed for U.K. citizenship yet, or if anyone in the United States has shed a tear.
